Im passing throw this issue too. Hope someone find the solution for this, wich is driving me crazy!.

Im on fw 5.0.1, iPhone 4S, without jailbreak.

Maybe this will help some people.

I wasn't having this issue at all until the other day I wanted to put a passcode on my phone (was going somewhere and wanted my phone to be secure just in case). I noticed as soon as I did that the problem that is being reported here started to happen. My text tones would off twice, almost as if they were stuttering. I went and took off the passcode and after I did text tones no longer stuttered.

So for the people having issues: are you running a passcode lock? If so try to turn that off really fast and give it a couple texts (my first text after turning it off still did it, but never has since). Is it still doing it?

Hope this helps anyone.

i do have the passlock activated, and next time this issue appears, will do that trick you suggest.

Right now it's not ringing twice after i shutted down the phone.

Thnak you.

There is a fix posted for this issue where you do not need to turn of vibrate or turn of view in lock screen. Go to the following link to read it. http://iostricks.com/double-text-message-ringtone-fix-iphone-4s-and-iphone-4-131

Anyone have any luck solving this? I'm using an iphone 4 with the latest software downloaded. (7 something.)

Are you talking about an alert that repeats a few minutes later, or an alert that basically repeats twice right away each time? Also, is it for both audible and vibrate, or just one of those?

One place to check would be the message alert repeat settings at Settings > Notification Center > Messages > Repeat Alerts. Another place, in case it's something with the particular vibrate pattern or audible alert, are the settings at Settings > Sounds > Text Tone (> Vibration).

No, it doesn't seem to be either of these. As this thread and others on the internet attest, it is apparently a common problem that, as far as I can tell, has not been definitely figured out yet, a probable glitch of some kind it seems.

So what is it that you are noticing exactly? Is it that an alert plays and then a couple minutes later it plays again even though you didn't get another message then, or is it that it plays and then plays again right away even though you only got one message? Is it the audio alert that repeats or the vibrate one (or both)?

Similar to the OP's complaint, and others who have posted earlier. A couple of alerts a few seconds apart for the same message. Sounds like a couple of texts have come in, but it's only one. (And I've noticed if two texts do come in in rapid succession, it might be beep 3 or 4 times.)

I'm not sure if it vibrates again. I just realized two days ago that there was some sort of problem that was always there, so I'm still in the study phase here. I'll pay more attention to exactly what is occuring, but as this thread and others elsewhere can attest, it's a widespread issue affecting many users for years now. I've read various theories and suggested solutions, but nothing seemed definitive.
