I'm stumped. I've fiddled with it for over an hour with no luck. It's a simple procedure: I just want to print out a 10 page doc. on the TextEdit app that came with my Intel iMac and I want the pages numbered. TextEdit Help says go to Pref>New Document>click on Number Pages when Printing. I did that, but still page numbers didn't show up in print-outs.
Anyone. . .Please? TIA

I am not sure what version of TextEdit you are running, but on 10.5. I got this information from the help docs and it does work on my system.

To add page numbers to printed documents:

Choose File > Print.

Select “Print header and footer.”

On each page of your document, TextEdit prints a header and footer that include a page number, date, and title.

Note: It does add more then just page numbers, so if you only wanted page numbers you might have to find an alternative program.

Hope this helps!
