... In the plain text case, I would recommend TextWrangler (BBEdit's free cousin) as it can set the line ending style for Windows.

So for plain text, if I get TextWrangler and set the line ending style for Windows (CR LF or something), will this plain text file still read properly when double-clicked on a non-Windows (e.g. classic Mac, OS X, Linux) system?

hey guys, im savein some .txt files on the mac an openin them on a pc, an they open weird on the pc, without the line breaks

is there a settin in texteditor so windows can see it like i see it on the mac?

My yamaha keyboard reads text files in a similar fashion as notepad does, so i faced the same prob. However, this has seemed to work for me:

In textedit select "preferences" ->click "open&save" tab ->under "saving files" select Western (windows latin 1) from the drop down.

My keyboard now reads the line feed well, and i suppose notepad should too..
