    Hi
Since the restore of my MacBook (had a HD crash) TextEditor will not open again (stops responding). I deleted the 6 preferences files, did not help. So I tried to replace it from the Time Machine backup with the terminal since he did not allow me to make any changes by hand.

    sudo cp -Rv (source) (target)

now TE does not even try to start anymore.

    Anybody have an Idea?

    Thanks

Try downloading the last combo update from apple. Perhaps its a version issue that is preventing it from running.

Why didn't you use the Time Machine application to restore the app?

Agreed, something went terribly wrong by side stepping Apple's recommended approach.
