Not that it was on my radar, but do you guys use the jpeg for pics and turn off LIVE for photos for 100% cross compatibility. It's a slight nuisance when you text someone who is non IOS and send a pic and it turns out they don't get the pic but you ~assume~ they did
 
I always thought that if you were to message/text to a non-iOS device that it uses SMS for text and MMS for media (pictures, video). These are standards from well before iMessage was ever a thing. And when doing this, photos and videos are compressed to a very low resolution and quality.
 
Good point and that was what I thought ? Maybe it is. I was texting someone and sent some pics....and realizing he's a Android user. Dunno, but based on his last text, it literally sounds as if it stripped the pic out - aka, by default, I have live photo on.
 
When you send a media file via sms, it just uses the native transcoding. Although networks might have a limit on how big the file can be. There’s a possibility of such restrictions on your case.
