Every time, and I mean every time, I go to write "texting" it auto-corrects it to "testing" no matter how many times I hit the x for it. I thought Apple might change this after 3 firmwares but i guess not

Its checks a dictionary, apple doesn't write dictionaries.

Well, dictionaries have the F-Word in it. Apple doesn't seem to check that.

Oh come on. You know you're full of shot. Shot. S-h-o-t. Dammit, autocorrect is still working here. That's a lot of shot.

Honestly, "texting" isn't a word. It's the ain't of our time. I live in the South, so I'm an expert on words that ain't. Now I think Apple should add that word to the dictionary, just like I wish the words of all the bloody cities around here would get added to our Quark dictionary. It's bad enough with all the hits from news stories involving Arabic names.

Open notes type it 4-6 times and it should enter it in the dictionary, may have to do it in email too, but then it's good to go u til you update it.

Hes saying when he types F**k it doesnt come up and changes the word, so if it was dictionary based it wouldnt change it, I also have that same issue. :)

What dictionary is the F word listed in?

Also, does anyone know what dictionary apple uses for their spelling checks? (even in OSX)

But they seemd to fix the lol to LOL auto-correct for FW3.0, why couldnt they fix texting?

Are you seriously suggesting they go in and fix every potential word? The english language is expected to hit 1 million words this year, good luck.

Yes, because I clearly said that:rolleyes:

A word that is going to be used as often as "texting" should be in the dictionary, especially for a phone that has "texting" enabled, at least in my opinion

You are a genius
I just tried this for another word. it worked
thanks

I wonder if it's the same for 3.0...

It'd be awesome if Apple implemented some sort of 'add to dictionary' feature where we could just add our own words that wouldn't be corrected.

Well go ahead and write your own dictionary then, as far as im aware to any of the major dictionaries, "texting" isn't an actual word.

The "testing" auto-correction? Yes, its still like that in 3.0

If you type the word enough times the dictionary learns it.

Good to hear. Can someone with 3 please try typing "nz" (for New Zealand) and see whether it still "corrects" it to "ms"?

It corrected "nz" to N the first time but after that it kept it as nz
