Other Texts On Other Devices

I’ve been meaning to ask this for a while but never got around to it. I have two phones (12 mini and 11 Pro) with service but I only use one number. I have texts on the 12 mini with my primary number forwarded to all my devices (including a MacBook Pro and iPad Pro), and I can reply on everything except my 11 Pro.

Talking about actual green bubble texts. I am able to reply to iMessages on the 11 Pro.

If someone texts my primary number on my 12 mini, it still forwards to my 11 Pro, but I can’t reply to it from my primary number. If I try to reply, I get a warning about it and if I still send the reply, it sends from my secondary number.

I swear it used to not be this way. Is there any way I can reply to non-iMessage texts that are forwarded to my 11 Pro from my primary number?

Try un-doing the forwarding setup and doing it again. I am able to reply to all texts regardless of device, or wether if its iMessage or SMS.

I just tried that and it didn’t work. This is what I get when I try to send it from my other phone.

So you’re able to reply to SMS on two iPhones from the same number? Because, like I said, I can reply from my iPad and MacBook, but I can’t reply from my other iPhone. I can either send it from my other phone’s phone number, or I can cancel.

Seems like a new limitation on iOS 15. Best thing to do is send feedback to Apple.

Agreed, but not limited to iOS 15, it seemed broken in iOS 14 as well. Prior I was able to reply to SMS (iPhone primary) on iPad or MBP neither have worked Since iOS 13. Feedback to Apple pending.

Yeah, I thought it’s been longer than just iOS 15 but almost positive it hasn’t been like this since before iOS 14.

That only works for iMessage. iMessage works as intended regardless of what device I use, but SMS only works properly on the original iPhone it’s sent to and other iOS devices that aren’t iPhones.
