The only texts that seem to be coming back are texts from 2022. I'm missing a whole year's worth of text messages. I still have my old phone - is there anything I can do?

Did you make sure both iPhone have iCloud Message sync enabled?
Yeah. When I tried to turn it off and back on - it did say they were still downloading though, but I've seen no change for the last 15 mins.

Update - Looks like only 14gb of 60gb are being backed up to iCloud? I've tried multiple things, but for some reason not all of them are syncing to the cloud.

We are having the same issue. My daughter and I are misding a few years of messages, many from my late partner/her dad. Though they are saved elsewhere it’s still something we both would like to see restored. We have never had this problem before during the upgrade process.

Wild. Same exact boat - I have text messages from people that are now deceased that I'd like back.

They show up on my macbook and my old iphone, but for whatever reason they aren't coming over. :/

Just wanted to follow up that a chat with Apple confirmed that the messages are loafing, just painfully slowly. Both my daughter and I are seeing the below when we walked though troubleshooting. There is still hope. I am 12 days out from transferring to my new phone.

Hey! I actually ended up figuring mine out. Do you both have a macbook or the old phone?

Make sure that you have numbers/emails which were assigned to iMessage in previous iPhone are activated in new one as well. That's how I got all my messages synced.

Mine were. I actually had to back up my old phone again after updating it to the latest ios fix. Then toggle messages on and off on both my old phone and new phone multiple times. I'm talking upwards of 20 times - and finally out of nowhere (I was literally out running errands) - I had all of my old texts. Android and iOS.

My issues is a little different. I have all old text messages. However, if I click on any contacts, then scroll down to photos, or links, all photos sent or received are gone. I don't have the option at the bottom to download from icloud? This is extremely frustrating..... Any advice?

Honestly - I would try the above method, but with photos. Toggle it on and off on icloud. Another thing to do is see how much gb of messages and/or photos is on your old device vs your icloud backup. My old device had about 60gb on the system, but only an x amount on the cloud - It wasn't syncing properly.

It’ll take a while - potentially several days. The key to it is “Don’t just do something, sit there!”

Anything you do to try and “speed it up” will have the opposite effect 😉

Thank you. Gonna give it a try.
