Dude, you can use iTunes match all you want....Just pay for the data.

Precisely.

It is like saying bad carriers don't let us take advantage of FaceTime over cellular as just one hour chat per day will get you over your monthly allowance well before the end of the month.

Reality is that it uses a lot of data in comparison to other applications and the mainstream price plan are based on average usage. If your usage is above average, either blocking you or asking you to pay more is not that crazy.

Once LTE is truly widespread, the average user will probably start to use more, the network capacity will be greater, and probably there will be larger monthly allowances by default which are more suitable for streaming.

I still maintain that it will kill the battery of your phone and give you cancer due to having a 2 Watts transmitter constantly active in your pocket though ;-)

So, can someone please tell me ... what is the value of iTunes Match for someone that isn't constantly on WiFi? That considered, even if you are on WiFi, then chances are you can already access a computer with iTunes anyways, so the ability to have cloud music services is lessened in worth even further.

I thought the selling point was that it would upload and upgrade your music for better quality...and you could keep the better quality tracks after you download them. I have about 80GB worth and I've been thinking of subscribing just to upload and download all the stuff I collected over the years to improve my current library for 25 bucks. Is that not how it works?

If that's the case then I'd do it once and probably wouldn't resubscribe. I agree with you and don't see the value beyond that.

As many have pointed out, you failed to comprehend the topic post. I don't want to, or need to, download/stream the entire library of 70Gb. My point is that, iTunes Match is not the solution for anyone with a library over 2Gb (250 songs) of music, really.

Can you explain how Spotify magically bypasses the usage of data that iTunes Match requires? Everyone keeps suggesting spotify, but it's no better at conserving data ... and that's the issue here. Low and behold, I already own my music, so why would I pay a monthly subscription to access that music on a third party app?

My point was that he can NOT stream his music on a daily basis with out going over his data limit. He needs to cull out and put what he want to hear on his device. The iPhone will hold a heck of a lot of music.

I agree that iTune match is not the best solution.

Get a spotify account.

iTunes Match was dead on arrival

This is so untrue, I cancelled my Spotify when Itunes match released.

Basically you can add any music you want to Itunes match with Spotify you are limited to what they choose to have available.

Also I am in the UK and I pay 32GBP for 2000 cross network minutes 5000 same network minutes, 5000 text and Unlimited internet with tethering.

I have used 5GB overnight playing Xbox live and BBC iplayer and on the 4S the meter read 234GB before selling and the Iphone 5 says 38.8GB down and 6.6GB up.

It is unfortunate that US carriers limit users so much as I do one day intend to move to the states.

I like the idea that my music is available from the cloud wherever I am.

It's all available to me via wifi at the library, club, Barnes and Noble, and a host of other places I frequent and has ultimately freed up a lot of space on my devices.

I don't have wifi available at my work so I downloaded my most listened to music so I don't have to stream (despite having unlimited plan).

Like any product, it needs to match the user. Op it doesn't match your use, that's all.

70gb for songs!

Sorry but I am GLAD they will throttle you! This is not YOUR network to clog up with you overgrown music collection! Cull out your Joan Baez collection and give us all a break!:p

You really sound more like you are bragging!

To be perfectly frank, 70GB is not a large enough amount of music to brag about.
