I have no problem with you listening to iMeowbot but this whole entire thread (and the rest of them) are caused by people downloading and running an app linked to by a NEWBIE. Alarm bells should of gone off right then. This is why I say above "people you don't know" if you trust iMeowbot and I can't see why you wouldn't go for it, take some responsibility though and consider learning how the OS actually works. Also don't take it the wrong way I'm not picking you out of the crowd I just think people need to wake up to how powerful any UNIX like OS is.

That's fine, I don't feel picked out of the crowd, and I see what you mean.

Part of what I was trying to say, is that by trying out these things that people like iMewobot take the time to explain, I learn. But learning takes time, and I can't expect to learn Terminal use over night. This was a good time to start - I had a specific need, and people were posting about how to do it via Terminal. I made it clear I didn't know anything about Terminal to ensure that anyone who gave me advice, would be thorough. I think my computer use is better for the things I've learned on MR.

I wouldn't necessarily try something a newbie told me to do - not before it was confirmed by posters whose info I've learned to trust over time.

That one's already built into the system. There are both single user mode and install discs to recover from big problems.

Oh I know there is. But I still go with the idea of making your own that is never used. bit differnt that the root lv one
Both windows and OSX both make an admin account that is never used but it does not mean I still think people should make an extra account.
