Hi All,

Long time reader, first time poster. Just wanted to thank everyone on here for their constant, competing and convincing opinions on everything Mac. I just purchased a 27 inch iMac (i7 3.4, 6970M 1GB, 4GB RAM) after a significant amount of research and patient waiting on the refresh. This site was an invaluable source of information, so I figured I would tell you guys to keep up the good work!

Cheers,

Acote

Funny I just pulled the trigger too on a 27. I, like the OP, lurk here on the forums, gleaning information here and there.

I had settled on a Maingear shift rig to game and was agonising over a display but decided that I would stay with Apple and that gizzards were enough to satisfy my gaming needs. My wife and I already own MBP's, in fact I have done since 2004. I just couldnt bring myself to go back to that dark, unstable MS place.

System details below - got my confimation email tonight, it should ship to me before May 20.

With the following configuration:
• PROCESSOR 065-0250 3.4GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
• MEMORY 065-0559 8GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB
• HARD DRIVE 065-0255 1TB Serial ATA Drive
• GRAPHICS 065-0312 AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2GB GDDR5

I'd be high fiving most of you right now if you were in the room. Cheers.

Well I have just had my problematic mid 2010 i7 2.93 replaced by apple for a 3.4 2011 i7 here's hoping to a smoother ride starting with delivery

I, like the OP, lurk the forums to educate myself. I also just pulled the trigger on the base model 21.5" unit, that should be here in a few days. This is my first ever Mac so this will be a learning curve for me. I do have one question though. I see it comes with 4gb of ram. Do you think that will be suffice. I don't do any PC gaming and will mainly use it for photo editing and movie editing using the included iPhoto & iMovie software. Other than that my 5yr old might visit some educational/gaming sites he's learned about. Should I double it 8gb or do you guys think 4gb will be enough?
