Why is this so popular? I've seen this many times with Charlie Sheen on Two And A Half Man as well, is that some kind of hidden protest against the iPhone or are they just unable to hold it properly? Anyone should see that the home button is no speaker.

I read somewhere on another thread that they hold it the wrong way on purpose, so that they make sure the Apple logo isn't visible. That seems to make sense to me.

It has to do with branding. Holding the phone the correct way would make it unmistakably an iPhone. They don't pay apple anything to have the cell phone in the show, therefor it can't be obvious. Holding it upside down makes it not an iphone in the legal standings.
