I think there isn't as much buzz this year. Last year was the 10th anniversary iphone and the forums were buzzing. Lets see what happens after the keynote tomorrow.
Well, the time has come to gather around and sweat it out getting the new iPhone lol. Who's going to be pacing back and forth, waiting till 3AM to order a phone?? I know I will be lol.
This is like my Christmas and a tradition for me. Every year, I think it gets easier, but it gets harder lol.
This is more of a fun taking thread.

I'm a bit worried about the Xs+ selling out quick especially in the gold variant. I guess we'll find out soon enough, i can't imagine the scalpers are going to do well with this one, the price is already so high and there's a lot more competition and alternative options out there. If I don't get the Xs+ on launch day, I'm willing to wait until whenever it is going to be delivered or try my luck at the reserve and pickup option. I refuse to pay scalper pricesIt's Apple, so they will still sell out of their phones within a minute and then backorders start. A lot of people will be clamoring for a large iPhone XS+ screen.

Yea it'll definitely be hard to get no doubt. I have to see the prices before i decide. If the Xs+ starts at $999 for 64GB, i'll be getting 256. Any higher of a base price, i'll take my chances with the 64. I'm locked loaded and ready to go lol.You may have to settle for a 256gb instead of a 64 if you want it launch day. Scalpers are probably pitching tents as we speak. Some are so scummy, they rip off homeless people to just wait in line to get iPhones for them in the past.
It's different for every product. With the X, once the initial stock was sold out, the next batch was "2-3 weeks".Is it common for Apple to go out of stock?...how quick do they typically recover?

Yea they really are scummy. A part of me blames the people willing to pay those prices, but that's life.

That's more of a US-centric problem i suppose, given that iPhones are cheapest in the States. Someone could buy a phone there and sell it internationally for as much as double the price depending on the region. However in other countries, the price of the iPhone isn't as low and so there won't be that pressure from scalpers looking to exploit international markets. In Canada, I saw a lot of scalpers trying to do the craigslist/kijiji thing (local sale with no selling fees) to make a quick few hundred dollars. It's not just people willing to pay prices, but it's also the willingness for people to pay premium prices to import them to their respective localities.

My brother lives close by (4 hours away) in the US, I thought about buying it there and bringing it in, but the cost of driving there and back wouldn't be worth the few hundred i would save on currency conversion. You're right it's really those on the other side of the pond that you can sell to. I could imagine places like the UAE and wealthy people in African countries would pay through the nose to have it right away. However, a part of me thinks Apple's produced enough of these things to satisfy a high level of demand; that would definitely crush the scalpers. The ease of making $ on an international sale allows people to basically pay for their plane tickets to come to major popular US tourist destinations lol. European VAT is so damn high, like 20%. Canadians pay higher for phones too. I have family that upgraded from the 4S to the 6S last year due to the high prices on the 2017 phones while the 2015 devices were given away free on contract.

It really depends on Apples suppliers and what They have available. Last year, it was predicted the iPhone X would be out of stock and no one would have their iPhones until February 2018, and that ended up being completely false where Apple had plenty of stock all through December.
Now, the first GEN Apple Watch when it launched in April 2015, that was a horrible launch because Apple undermined the popularity and demand for the Apple Watch, which some did receive their Apple Watch almost 4 months after the initial launch.
Is there any chance preorder is available at midnight on the 13th? The waiting is killing me.

I'm not as anxious as last year. Last year i had a broken 6+ that i was using and desperately needed a replacement. No need to buy from a scalper as my 7+ is good for now.I guess my point is, if the XS Max (plus) sells out, do not give to to scalpers, - and they will selling the preorders for jacked up priced by Fri. morning. Just be patient. It will be at an Apple store / back in stock online before you know it.
Most likely Sept 14th. 12am PT, (3am ET)
AND..just like previous years, once that pre-order goes through. The wait between the 14th and - I will assume NEXT Friday the 21st becomes the longest wait, week ever.lol!
How many times do we check the status of the order, then UPS tracking? 10-20+ times a day.
Can be fun, exciting. But again just painfully long. I don't know, that's just me.

I recall the Ebay scalpers selling the preorders after it quickly sold. (forget that!) I THINK the X came out Nov 3rd. I ended up getting caught up in the excitement of finding the X at a few Apple stores using iStockNow .com on Nov 18. (Best Buy's had them before that actually, BUT they had some nerve of marking the price up of the X $100 for some reason)
