That didn't take nearly as long as expected - B&H is discounting the 15" space gray base model by $200.

It ends shortly, but but interesting they're being discounted so soon after launch.

I imagine that they have too much stock sitting around; doubt it's a popular sale in comparison to the other models and configurations.

It appears that the sale on the 2.7/512/455 model is still on - $200 off and no tax outside NY. Appears to be the space gray model only, but if interested they say they have them in stock.

Base model of 15" only has 256GB and most people want 512GB at least
And for people who are considering the 2.7/512/455 config, upgrading to 460 is only $100 more
I suspect that the standard models are less demanding hence the discount.

Bingo, that is how I thought to.

B&H is discounting the 2.7/512 model but not others, so there's now a $300 difference to the 460 model.

the reason they are is for example someone like me who would have ordered that model, I wanted the upgraded gpu & and since I did that might as well get the cpu so I bet quite a few people thought the same way.

Of course that makes it a great deal and maybe more people will consider it now. But my point is when there is no discount, people prefer BTOs than standard models which leads to the discount. Just supply and demand.
It would be really surprising if they start to offer discount on BTOs that they are yet to be able to ship.

Yes, that's his point. People going for the 2.7/512 config also want the 460 for $100, so B&H is discounting the stock 2.7/512/455 to sell more of them.

I ordered a 13" 2016 base nTB for $1374... $125 off with no tax and free shipping..

Also b&h will price match the Adorama/Apple Insider deal too. So for example on my order I got the same price as the adorama/Apple Insider deal that includes apple care.

It's not unusual to discount them early. They have done it with every model for years.

I ordered a in stock 13" TB Space Grey from them, $1749 plus a $50 gift card. Used the gift card for an extra power brick that shipped the same day as the laptop. I see they are discounting the 13" models pretty good still.

Adorama is now having space gray 15" base model $200 off as well. Even more discount with the APINSIDER promo code.

be warned, B&H does NOT accept returns on laptops, make sure you are 100% aware..

Of course they do. If you have a defective laptop in anyway they will take care of it.
They just don't allow people to purchase a laptop from them and decided a week later that they don't like the color, then try and return it.
B&H is a licensed Apple reseller, they also sell Apple Care, so if any problems arise with a laptop purchased there it will be taken care of.
Apple Care makes all of this a moot point anyways.

No Apple has a 2 week return policy where you can test it out if you actually like it or return it. B&H only allows defective returns

Dont try and sweep it under the rug, theres a lot of people who might not know of it

Yes, that's exactly what I said. B&H will not let you return a computer for non defective reasons like color or just because you don't like it.
I was answering the poster above my last post who made a blanket statement that B&H didn't take returns on computers, which they do.

That's right. Spending $2500 on a supposed pro model with only 256gb non-upgradable drive is maybe not what people are doing....much. Move the merch.

That's nice, though the 15" is priced 2200, which is still more money then I'm wanting to spend.

It's true that BH does not allow return of computers for a refund once it's unboxed but they do allow exchange if defective..

They now have the base nTB on sale for $1349!

I was waiting for the 512GB MBP 2.6Ghz 450 at $2599 but now they're offering the 2.7 455 for the same price. Seems like a great deal..though I could also save $400 and get the 2.6 450 256GB model and just use an external SSD.

I do audio production and use ableton live for live performances. Will he 2.7, 455 make any noticeable difference in the performance of my system for audio?

If you go through Adorama's APINSIDER promo link, a 15" base model is now only 2099 or 2283 with AppleCare. Biting my nails debating whether to pull the trigger or not...

I pulled the trigger on the base 15" model from B&H. I bought the Ntb 13" and felt it was just too small come from a 2012 MacBook Pro Retina. Saw the B&H price and figured with no shipping and no taxes it was almost $360 off the price. Still expensive for sure but. Ordered on Tuesday and they delivered it Wednesday on the over night shipping. So far very happy with the laptop. Definitely the right size for me. I spend several hours a day using the laptop for light work. (Emails, Excel, Surfing) I've not had one issue. Compared to my 2012 15" this one seems much smaller. Makes it very portable.
