I love the 11" MacBook Air, but I work with the computer, and the 13" MacBook Air display is fresh air compared to the 11". Also consider that the 11" is 16:9, while the 13" is 16:10, which is optically better for working on a small display.

I have an 11" air and a13" pro. The 11 is great for travel, but if I bought an air again, it would be the 13".

Don't you think they would have if they could have? To think otherwise implies a bigger bezel and smaller screen was a conscious design decision.

I don't know about the technical aspects of this, so you could of course be right. But, given that the present technology can give us a smaller bezel, I hope that Apple designs the Airs in that way, and that there are no design decisions or preferences that head in the direction of a bezel of the present size.

It's not that much bigger, but it's bigger enough so that it's not that comfortable to use on a plane, or on a commuting train, or it doesnt fit that nicely into a small bag, etc.

So yeah, theoretically wise it's not that different, but in reality the 11" is indeed more portable. If it just didn't have such a poor battery life it would be the ultimate road-warrior machine.

This is exactly the point about size and weight!

There are MANY of us - actual and potential users/buyers - for whom these factors regarding portability are essential!

But better battery time is really needed, and hopefully will not future 11 Air models have sudden rushes of annoying fan noise, or a low more constant noise in the background, which for me and many others are just as bothersome.

It all boil downs to how do YOU define "THAT much"...

According to me - MBA 13 - it's noticeably bigger than MBA 11, better resolution (not ppi though), SD card is there (but who cares)..

btw i went from 14 inches windows  to 13.6 inches AIR

Owner of a 2010 11" here. Thinking about testing the waters with a 2012 13". Love how small the footprint of the 11" is, but I went to an Apple store today and compared the two. The 13" doesn't even feel that much bigger or heavier than the 11". The difference was a lot less than I thought it would be and is more than made up for by the greater usability of the bigger screen.

Any thoughts? Particularly from those who went from an 11" to a 13" ...

I started with a 2010 11" and now have a 2011 13" ultimate.

I know it sounds like a small difference on paper, but in the real world these are two very different machines. While I think the 13" is more usable overall, nothing beats the sheer portability of the 11" - it really does feel a lot smaller and easy to throw into a bag and go. The 13" feels more like a normal general purpose laptop, just thinner.

For my next upgrade in 2013 I'm going back to the 11". I just really miss the cool form factor.

Missing the vote down option

Imagine the odds. I have the same opinion about your post.

For all to see: This exchange of the last posts shows the need for the voting down option.

What was the reason for taking it away? Was there a good enough reason?!

Can we get it back?
