I know, that is the oddest of the most odd managerial sackings. Almost as odd as Notts Forest a couple of weeks ago.
In other news, Michael Owen scores a goal, alleluia!!
Well back to real Football after all the rumours.
The winter stop ended on Friday, and we got our first really big surprise.
(No offense met Jaffa Cake but nobody saw this one coming)
PSV 1 vs PEC Zwolle 3
PSV league leaders were not just beaten they were humiliated, it was like only one team had turned up to play and it wasn't PSV. OK they are missing two players Ola Toivonen and Luciano Narsingh, but still.
They were very lucky Marcelo handled the ball in his own 16 meter area, but the referee didn't see it, every body else and his dog did though.
In the second half PSV's Erik Peters who has been sidelined for 9 months, was given a straight Red card for a really dangerous tackle. On his way to the dressing room he broke a large window with his fist and had to be taken to the hospital.
The home crowd began to jeer and shout that the players should start earning their pay.
Dick Advocaat's face during the after match interview was something to see.
PEC moves up the table out of the danger zone, and PSV lose top position.
Saturday
FC Twente 0 vs RKC Waalwijk
Twente couldn't win but the one point puts them back on top.
Sunday
It's all about Ajax vs Feyenoord this is always one of the major games in Dutch football since the the very start of football in the Netherlands. This time it also matters in the league they are 3rd and 4th.
By the by it's Willem II, It is their Playing Ground is call King Willem II stadium...
I like the PSV kit.
How is King Willem II doing this season? I usually like their kit as well.
Hurrah for the mighty Blauwvingers!PSV 1 vs PEC Zwolle 3
the msot entertaining game: Schalke vs. Hannover 96 5:4 ... after a snore fest first half with a 1:0 .. the second half turned out rather funny to watch with 8 goals in total
A lopsided match in the Netherlands. It's almost like that time Dirk Kuyt scored a hat trick against Man Utd, though Fergie's boys sneaked a goal in that one.
Another fact from the weekend that appears to have escaped mention: Barcelona have lost a match, against a Basque team (Real Sociedad) no less. Messi did score though, and his goals-per-game average remains dizzyingly high. They are now merely 15 points ahead of Real Madrid, and a scant 8 points ahead of Atletico Madrid....the title race is on.![]()
Sneidjer looks set to end up in Galatasaray. I actually thought someone from the EPL would snag him but i guess he was too demanding in the end.
Given an effective replacement, I have no problem letting Reina go. He has been a great servant of the club and an outstanding, if not quite top tier keeper. It's well known he wants to finish out his career in Spain.
Not sure who we'd replace him with, because none of our backups are up to the task. Too bad Tim Howard plays for Everton, I'd love to see him at Liverpool.
Also in transfer news. Looks like Reina wants to pull a Fabregas...at least according to Daddy.
LFC should go and tempt Vorm or Bergovic with big money. We don't mind loaning you Vito or Flapianski either![]()
Not so long ago Arsene Wenger was casting envious looks in his direction. You don't think he's on his way to Barca rather than long-term admirers Real Madrid and he's demanded Reina be brought along? He has a £20m buy-out clause. He's been a loyal and longish servant at the club. Not many will begrudge him I don't think. I'd personally sign Begovic (my personal choice if we could get him for £10m), Ron-Robert Zieler or Michel Vorm (although he only signed a new contract last summer so won't be cheap) to replace him.
It wasn't so much lopsided (had to look that up by the way) it was that it was talked up as a old fashioned classic, and it wasn't.

gets them promoted in back to back seasons and then gets the axe!
absolute balls if you ask menot happy!
It makes no sense to me whatsoever. It's pure speculation on my part, but either Adkins personally fell out with the suits upstairs (Nicola Cortese seems to be the name on everyone's lips), or those suits think that Mauricio Pochettino is so much better of a manager that it is worthwhile to simply chuck Adkins and bring in the new man immediately. The latter sounds pretty unlikely.
