Yes, we, Arsenal, have certainly not done ourselves any favours with some of the contract offerings.

I absolutely detest transfer season. Here’s hoping they soon change it to only once a year, AND before the season starts.

Now, if Kos wants to leave, let him. Even better if he buys himself out of his contract. After all, we will never know the internal conversations that have been had, and might have driven him to this course of action.

Anyway, roll on 17th August...

Haven't had much time to watch any football ready. Missed the majority of the WWC. Opening weekend of the EPL looks good.

Apart from the Neymar saga, not too much happening in the transfer market. Griezmann is now at Barca, de Gea will presumably stay with Man Utd, though that's still not certain.

I think most Liverpool fans are largely content with the squad, though I echo most in feeling a decent backup left back is probably needed. Up front, Rhian Brewster has had an exciting preseason so far, and he looks first team-ready. Klopp will know better whether that is truly the case, but perhaps we don't need to sign a replacement for Sturridge given Brewster's development and Origi's decision to sign a new contract.

Meanwhile, in MLS...nothing but tears for Columbus fans as the team continue to lose match after match. Worse season in at least a dozen years by my reckoning.

Maguire seems finally headed to Man Utd. Really past time to sell off some of the dead weight defenders: any two out of Rojo, Smalling and Jones will do. I also hope to see Axel Tuanzebe get opportunities in the first team this season.

Ravel Morrison signed for Sheffield United. Guess we'll see how that works out. He was one of the most exciting youth players I've ever seen, but the odds of him scratching even a sliver of that potential at this point are pretty slim.

Somehow, Columbus failed to lose against Chicago yesterday - equalizing twice, the second pretty late, to take a point on the road. Must have been an accident...

So, Algeria win the AFCON. After scoring an extremely lucky goal in the second minute, Algeria were pinned back pretty much the rest of the entire match...but Senegal were just not able to break down the Algerians despite a handful of good chances and near-misses...there was a lack of composure in front of goal. Senegal will definitely come away from this match feeling they should have at least scored an equalizer.

Not a classic by any stretch, and Algeria indulged in quite a bit of fouling as they sought to hold their narrow lead and slow the match down. They kicked lumps out of Mané the entire match, which terrified me and probably will give Klopp nightmares when he returns to Liverpool a bruised mess...

I simply don't understand the handball rule anymore...the no-call against Algeria would have been a stone-cold penalty at the women's world cup. Did the ref make a "clear and obvious error" in calling for the penalty? The defender's hand was at his side, but he did make a deliberate movement to block the ball.

Mo Salah, Sadio Mané, and Bobby Firmino have all clocked up substantial tournament minutes this summer, so I have to worry about their fitness heading into the 2019/2020 league season.
