I've got mixed feelings about Rooney, as I imagine many United fans do. HIs agitation for a move to City and his other various missteps may be forgiven, but won't ever be fully forgotten. At the top of his game he was pretty amazing, and the records he hold speak for themselves., no doubt about that.

Agreed. I don’t think we are playing badly. We just need to convert that into points.

By all accounts, West Ham played very well, and, had they taken any of their many chances, the result may well have been different.

Having said that, Leno (not for the first time) had an excellent game, indeed, to my mind, he is easily one of Arsenal's two best players.

Liverpool actually won a football match this weekend. How about that?

Meanwhile, Columbus earned a highly creditable 1-1 draw last night against reigning league champions Seattle Sounders. A road point is always good in MLS, even moreso on a plastic pitch. The crowd was very light due to fears over the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, Man Utd seem to be benefitting from Man City's ennui in the league.

I think that once freed, or liberated, from the burden of that unbeaten in the PL record (they have still lost one game in the Premiership this season, and lost only one game last season) - they simply needed to do what is necessary to secure the title.

As yet, they are still unbeaten at Anfeld.

Rather, my concern would be for a lack of motivation to make an appearance once that they have actually won the title, if they win it at a canter, or with the sort of considerable margin of victory, that currently seems fairly likely. Maintaining motivation and standards could well present a considerable challenge.

Meanwhile, it is clear that when compared to last year (or the previous season) Manchester Cty seem well off the pace necessary to secure the PL title.

Maintaining the desire to compete during a period of success can be difficult. Though, I am less worried abut that than sheer physical wear and tear at this stage in the season. Man City look jaded. Hard to blame them, but one would think they would have been more motivated for this match. As for Man Utd, Fernandes continues to be a godsend, though under OGS they often revert to such a very defensive mindset for periods in matches.

Five points separate fifth and ninth. In terms of momentum, Man Utd look increasingly likely to grab that fifth spot from Wolves or Sheffield United, though maybe that's just me always assuming the "big" teams will come out on top.

Fernandez is a godsend, but would still love to see a smaller team such as Wolves or Sheffield United take that slot.

Was awfully satisfying watching Aaron Wan-Bissaka stop Raheed Sterling cold time and time again. It never gets old!

I read somewhere that AWB has created more chances on the attacking end since the new year than Trent Alexander-Arnold, which is an impressive indicator of how far the attacking side of his game has progressed this season.
