An OLED phone with 5G, multiple cameras and the latest processor for $800

Will it be OLED?

I’d be happy with a dual-camera LCD XIIR with 5G in 2020 if it’s decently priced, at least if it was a higher pixel density LCD than it is now. The only two things that give me pause on the current XR are the pixel density of the LCD and the lack of a telephoto lens.

The pricing structure on the Max/Pro top end model needs to change.

In the meantime I’ll keep using my 3 GB iPhone 7 Plus with dual lenses and very high pixel density LCD.

The 2019 XR will have the latest processor, (Just as the 2018 Model did) And 5G probably will have some limitations at a start. Also, Apples ‘liquid retina display’ on the XR now is excellent, adding an OLED panel I don’t think adds that much value to the consumer.

Taking into account its contribution to the absolutely astonishing battery life, I couldn't be happier with the screen on my XR. I'd be more concerned that Apple find a way to ruin it by 2020.

Will it be OLED?

Given that Xiaomi can sell a 6.1" AMOLED smartphone today for $180, I would agree with Kuo's prediction that Apple will put it in the 2020 R.

By 2020, telephoto lenses and 5G will be standard features in $300-500 phones. I think the 2020 R will be a solid product like the XR. But it will be fighting against $1,000 folding phones and other conventional slate phones with ToF sensors, in-display fingerprint sensors, and stylus.

5G won't matter that much to consumers IMO. LTE is plenty fast for our needs.

The bigger deal will be the 5.4" iPhone which will be a lot more manageable one-handed versus the current lineup.

Right, the 5.4 iPhone (If specd’ properly) will be the ‘Dark-horse’ phone for 2020. I’d wager this phone will be the Model to have, the key strategy is the price and dimensions of a smaller device. It’s coming, maybe a mid-tier upgrade away from the iPhone September keynote, like the SE was in March 2016.

No way. It’s coming in September 2020.

It’s coming in September 2020.

I’d ask for a source, but I know you don’t have one. :D

Either way, it will be the Darkhorse phone for 2020, let’s just hope Apple has the appropriate suppliers aligned for any constraint.

It’s gonna have 5G. They won’t release such a phone alone pre September keynote.

I am fine with my Lte
People were fine with their AMPS, GSM, GPRS, CDMA, EDGE, EV-DO, UMTS, HSDPA, HSPA+, and DC-HSPA+... it's about preparing for the future. Soon, iPhones older than the 6 will be defunct on US carriers. One day, that transition will happen with LTE as well. Also, if it's anything like LTE, 5G will be an optional thing you can disable in settings in favor of older network tech.

As if anyone on this forum is still going to be using their current or even next phone by the time LTE is turned off :D
