Shame for Villa.

Yes, it was.

They have an excellent manager, an outstanding keeper, a pretty good squad, but probably lack strength in depth in the squad for a sustained tilt at the title.
But United couldn’t be that bad all game.
Actually, they could have been that bad for the entire game.

However, I do wonder what caused them to discover pride and passion and the ability to convert goal-scoring chances.
Definitely a game of two halves!
Very much so.

Extraordinary.

Rashford didn't get on the scoresheet, but he looked more like his old self today for the first time in a while.

Are they capable of achieving any kind of consistency? They summoned up some great effort and focus after going down 2 goals, but that's a level they'll have to sustain across multiple matches and not let it drop.

Garnacho on the right? Looks like it could work.

Me thinks they started believing their own hype after beating City, Arsenal, and Brentford.

Then go and draw to Sheff Utd at home, and drop a 2 goal lead against Utd.
I don’t think they had any lofty ideas tonight. Just United showed up for the second half. I’m guessing a half time talking to!

Fair enough, - this is possible, but I think that despite some positive elements (terrific goal-keeper, excellent manager), as a squad, - and a pretty good squad - they simply lack the strength in depth for a sustained tilt at the title.

As a squad, as a team, they are good enough to qualify for Europe, at least one of the European competitions, and Emery is something of a specialist at winning the Europa Cup.

Yes, sustaining consistency has been an issue for them for a good while.

However, not to take away from what was an excellent result, and having come back from a two goal deficit at half time.

Exactly.

I would imagine so.

Actually, I think that it might have been interesting to have been a proverbial fly on the wall in order to have been able to hear what must have been an unusually compelling half time chat.

Utd were good in the second half, but does not excuse Villa capitulating. Should've shut up shop quickly but didn't.

Also, some Schadenfreude at Emi Martinez conceding 3 goals.

Currently watching Everton best City a goal to nil at half time.
Pickford kept them in it with 3 good saves before the goal. Since Everton scored they’ve had much more confidence going forward.
Elsewhere sadly Chelsea just went in front against Palace.
Wolves beating Brentford by 3 goals to one.
