Caraboo (or league cup as I prefer) kicks off tonight
Bristol City v Walsall.
We play Portsmouth on Saturday. I feel like I’d rather play the c team, get out of both cups and concentrate on getting back to the Premier League.

A good run in what I still (mentally) refer to as the League Cup (the Carabou Cup) would do wonders for the self-confidence of the team, and probably wouldn't hurt the finances, either.

Rodri aiming to go to Barca is one i did not see coming but on the back Pep leaving not surprising.
That would significantly weaken City and that City team now looks completely different. End of an era.
Surprisingly, been a slow window so far. Except for Chelsea who are doing the Chelsea thing again. Welbeck and Henderson are interesting acquisitions to say the least.
Guimares to Arsenal is decent business. Arguably an upgrade on Noorgard, and makes Arsenal's midfield one of the best in Europe.
Anderson and Rogers overpriced but good add-ons for the new clubs
Liverpool suspiciously quiet even though they arguably need 6 bodies in.
The Vini Jr thing didn't surprise me. Barca and Madrid players especially, like using premier league clubs to renegotiate their contracts.
They only come to the UK when they've been thoroughly discarded and have no choice.

Not really terribly surprising, but instructive as to how some top players view City's prospects in the near future.
Rodri's injury severely hampered City during last season; in fact, for all of the importance of Haaland to the team, I would argue that Rodri is of even greater importance to their success in recent years, a player, like van Dijk (at his best), whose absence visibly hurts them.
Chelsea are nothing if not painfully predictable on such matters.

To me, it is abundantly clear that Arteta never fully (or partially) trusted - or rated, or had confidence in - Norgaard, which puts the pursuit and purchase of Guimarāes into perspective.

I'd imagine - or expect - a veritable flurry of activity as the transfer window draws to a close, before it is firmly shut.

The whole story was hot air designed to generate controversy, publicity, attention, and - ultimately - better conditions for the players in question at their clubs in their own domestic leagues.

That's because this fellow here was born there and some other events. He had a disagreement with his mother and other close relatives and decided he needed his own country.
The rest is history. He was also a good friend with the English, so much that he made an Englishman the first modern (1147) bishop of Lisbon. Some nice Englishmen were travelling to Jerusalem and he asked why not a vacation here? We have the same problem to sort out.

If so, I am not sure that this could be described as "character assassination."
If not, well....
However, even if he survives the sort of close (and possibly savage) scrutiny that his tenure richly merits, his reputation and credibility are in tatters, and a recovery from that - even if he retains his position - let alone the restoration of respect - are all vanishingly unlikely.

In Unai Emery, you have an excellent manager who seems to be able to develop his players and get more from them than they may have believed possible, and who seem to respect him and enjoy playing for him.
Moreover, in Emi Martinez, you have an exceedingly good - actually, an excellent - goalkeeper (even if, as a human being, he sometimes leaves something to be desired).

A nice 3-1 win to start the season off with. I know it’s not our priority this season (cups), but a win is a win.

So if they do manage to buy the club will they be moving the headquarters to Luxembourg to avoid paying tax in the Uk? 😜
Personally I don’t like to see multi millionaires buy clubs they have no interest in other than investment.
Will make for an interesting TV show next year on Amazon Prime no doubt!

If this Bezos buy-in actually happens I’ll be disgusted. I have already stopped spending money on the club, so it’s not like it will materially change my relationship with Liverpool. But it will erode my enthusiasm for this incarnation of the club.
I wish all I had to complain about was Liverpool’s lethargy in the transfer market thus far. Nope, it’s another crappy billionaire buyout story.

I can empathise. Our current owner is hardly someone to be proud of. I’m really hoping his exit happens sooner or later.

It’s not as if they didn’t have something to make up… there’s a Mo Salah shaped hole on the right side of the attack, a Konate shaped hole in the defence, and god knows how long Becker will last in goal. Arguably they need to acquire 4-5 top quality players to become a Premiership winning side again.

There is speculation that that Barcola deal will be finalized before the remaining transfer budget is determined. But the squad seems to require significant strengthening in defense, midfield, and attack. Not something I want to see the club waiting till mid August to get about rectifying.
This will not be a trophy season for Liverpool. My expectations are very modest. Champions League qualification, taking a couple big scalps in the league, and nothing more would be fine.
Am mindful that the transfer window slams shut shortly (in a few weeks time), but am equally mindful that this will more than likely be preceded by a flurry of activity.

Don't worry the gulf between the top 6 clubs is growing each year so you still have plenty of time to pluck talent from any team looking to break the status quo.....
Purchase, not pluck.
Nevertheless, my concerns are more about identifying and addressing gaps left by exhausted, burnt out, (not to mention injured) players returning from the World Cup after a very long (and exceedingly trying) season.

I’m still hoping we bring 2 attacking players in. I appreciate Guimaraes for Noorgard, Tsolis on the left, and trying to find a Saliba/Timber/White cover. Although i don’t think Villa will sell us Konsa, and Quansah is injury prone if i recall correctly.
But as it stands i fear we’ve not really upgraded our attack. Our clutch attacker is gone, Jesus might (rightly) be going. It’s still Martinelli, Havertz, and Madueke. And what will happen with Dowman and Nwaneri more loans or part of the squad
I also want Kepa gone personally and with him a limit on signing Chelsea rejects.
I would love us to get Yildiz and i woudn’t mind trading Martinelli for Osimehn but i doubt both will happen
