Yes, it would be a damned shame that these portable computers that fit in our pockets and allow us to take clear, stabilized photos among numerous other features have a quarter smidgen of protrusion to accommodate a better camera while also being a thinner device all around.

I hope Apple would never force us to endure such a horrible reality.

I take it you've never used a phone with a protruding camera before? I think former HTC One X owners would disagree with you, it's a scuff magnet.

As a current HTC One X+ owner I can say that is true, but the phone takes such horrible pictures it's not noticeable anyways.

Actually it's working rather well. It's Almost June and we haven't seen one real part of this phone. Just Mockups, 3d prints and cases. Usually by now we can put together a whole functioning phone based on leaked parts.

True...and I am not liking this new double down approach. Whatever happened to controlled leaks?

Would love them to surprise us with a new iPhone at WWDC.

Was convinced they would a few weeks ago. Not sure now.

Nah there's no way. They would need a chance to beta test iOS 8 and a new phone would most definitely ship with the new iOS so they could release the phone until iOS 8 was tested and bug free.

Why couldn't they announce the new phone, for release in late summer?

Why couldn't they announce the new phone, for release in late summer?

Because then even more people would quit buying the current phone(s).

And they'd lose all of the hype/frenzy/publicity leading up to the reveal/release.

It's a tried and true method that's been proven to work extremely well.

To all the "so much for doubling down on security" folks, do you realize that we still have no clue about what the actual iPhone is going to look like, don't you? You are assuming that the one purported design doc is what is driving all of this is real. And that's a big stretch.

When we actually see a phone and it turns out that these were right, I'll humbly eat my words, but for now, you have no basis on which to make any claims that security isn't very tight.

how's that supply chain secrecy working out ...

If the iWatch or an aTV update is announced at WWDC, will you issue a statement noting their ability to keep it a secret?

Everyone is expecting an updated iPhone. Better to have that leak than a new product or significant update. iPhone is a product that needs to be ready to mass launch soon after announcement. It makes sense it needs to be in production earlier than a new product, making it much more difficult to keep quiet. If they truly would keep the iWatch (or whatever they call it) under raps, would that appease you? Or must EVERY update be super secret? And do you also acknowledge that your participation in a site like this one, only fuel the leaks?

That protruding camera tho... Tacky.

With that in mind, do you care if they implement a lens attachment system a la...

Then this is more proof it's here.

This is more rumours to show what Apple might be releasing as the next iPhone.

Fixed up your statements. Only Apple can prove what Apple is doing. Everyone else is just guessing. Educated guess, but still guesses. Many people can't understand this.

This is no different from a mockup. It's a "best guess" by a case manufacturer- not a sample from Apple. How can so many readers not understand this?

MacRumors is all like, "No, don't worry, this isn't a mock-up -- it's a mold. Totally different. We're allowed to post molds now, right?"

Wrong.

How on earth do you get first post on nearly every single news thread? Do you sleep? Are you human?

Why are people so obsessed with first posts...completely bizarre concept to me. Seems all over the net people think it's cool to get the first post...utterly sad!

2 things...

First, anyone upset that apple is releasing the 5.5" at a later date? I am split between both sizes, and am also impatient and don't want my samsung galaxy s3 anymore...

Second, did they kill off the bezeless rumors? haven't heard about that in a long time.

If you're making buying decisions based on unconfirmed rumors from unreliable sources months in advance of any actual product announcements, I don't know what to tell you.

This. They will all go to prison for lifelong torture if there is any justice left on earth.

And if there is a god they will burn I'm hell for all eternity.

not really, but a First World Problem, definitely!

Geez, some of you. It was obvious hyperbole for comedic intentions. Fine, it's a crime against industrial design.

Also, I disagree. These phone cameras are already pretty amazing. I'll take a flush camera over slightly better lens.

I was intrigued as to how he is the almost always the first one to post something on nearly every news thread, 24 hours, around the clock. Wasn't aware curiosity was 'sad'.

Considering how quiet the rumor mill has been, with WWDC only 11 days away, I'd say Apple's doing pretty good at keeping whatever it is they're working on secret.

All we know is what, Healthbook? We know basically nothing about iOS 8 other than that. I can't think of any rumors at all about OS X. There's been no hardware leaks, just speculation about what updates might come for existing lines based on current product ages. I'd say Apple's doing a very good job at secrecy. Sites like MacRumors have nothing at all to post except Yet Another Fake iPhone 6 Mock-Up story.

Now, I do expect some controlled leaks next week to get a pre-WWDC buzz going, but those will definitely be controlled leaks out of Apple Marketing.

If we start seeing actual parts in the months to come, for iWatch, iPad, or iPhone, we'll know that Apple's got a leak problem somewhere. But these mock-ups (and even a mold for case manufacture is just another type of mock-up) are no different from all the other mock-ups we've seen year after year that never pan out.

Sorry I wasn't referring to you I was referring to people who think it's so amazing to post first, i.e the OP.
