Compare it to the old Powerbook and it's such a shame that there's such an obvious black spot on the front of it. And all for a remote that only a handful of people use regularly.

Apple need to do what Sony did with the PS3 - the Apple remote should be Bluetooth - no need for an infra-red sensor! Perfect!

I don't even notice it's there. It's such a small thing, I doubt most people would even care.

Also, if you've ever given a Keynote presentation, the remote is very useful.

I agree. I never even notice it, ever. I actually had to look for it when I read this thread

I have to agree. I had to take a minute and look for the dot too. I don't find it ugly to look at. The iSight camera is much more visible on the display, IMHO.

The "invisible" IR sensor could be done - but, then you'd only be able to control the MB from straight in front of it.

The "invisibility" trick with the iSight indicator is done with tiny holes drilled through the cover. This greatly limits the angle-of-view of the indicator (try and see it from anywhere except straight in front of it and you will see the effect). Not a very good design for an IR remote sensor.

So the answer is surely Bluetooth...?!

I can't say it is something that has ever bothered me.

There's a big slot to the right of the latch button, does that upset you too?
Haha ;)

I really just don't even look at that part of the MBP very much - never really have reason to.
