The Apple Watch series 3 can't charge wirelessly with the Milanese loop or Link bracelet?

Can anyone please explain to me if and why the Series 3 won't be able to charge wirelessly using these particular bands on a charging mat? I've never used any of these bands, so do they just not allow the Apple Watch rear to touch the surface?

Precisely - unlike any of the other bands Apple sell which come in two pieces, these bands do not allow the watch back to be placed directly on a flat surface. A workaround would be to just unclip one side of the band, but it might be a bit inconvenient and hence why (I presume from what you said, although I haven't seen it myself) Apple advertises them as incompatible with wireless charging.

Thank you for the clarification. Trying to find this advertisement though. It's not listed under either of their product pages?

As Someone who owns the stainless steel link bracelet and black stainless steel link bracelet, it will be inconvenient for me if I attempt to charge the watch on the mat, as I will have to disassemble the link bracelet to do so. But I guess that's just the downfall and Apple can't make it convenient for every band.

I see. That does sound inconvenient. Thanks for also confirming.

How about the Apple Magnetic Charging Dock and the watch in nightstand mode?

I’ve been using the link bracelet exclusively with my Apple Watch since I got it in June of 2015 and I was initially a bit disappointed to see that it wouldn’t work with the new charging mat, but then it occurred to me that I also use my watch in nightstand mode every night. In fact, the watch is the only clock I have on my nightstand. I got rid of my alarm clock as soon as nightstand mode was a thing. Even if I was able to lay the watch flat on the charging mat I’m not sure I’d want to since I’d lose the nightstand mode clock.

you won’t lose nightstand mode laying your watch flat on the charging mat will also display nightstand mode, yes Apple thought of that and upgraded iOS for this change but of course the mat will only charge series 3 watches, iPhone X and 8 plus wireless AirPod cases.

I don't know about others, but when I'm lying down in bed, I'm not above my watch looking down on it when it's in nightstand mode. But rather, I'm looking over at it at eye level when it's on its charger in nightstand mode.

So for me, I don't see the point of having nightstand mode enabled when it's on the wireless charging mat and how it would work as I wouldn't be able to see it.

When the Milanese or link bracelets are fully opened, could they just loop around the entire mat itself so that the watch can touch the mat while the bracelet goes under it? I mean this probably looks ridiculous but maybe it’s a possibility? I would think that the Milanese would be flexible enough but the link probably wouldn’t be.

Heh...that would negate the convenience factor, having to push the charging mat through the watch band - you'd be better off throwing it on your watch charging dock.

Same Deal. Maybe apple will have a little pop up charging area like the one on their Magnetic Charging Dock.

Yeah, it's not the end of the world for me. And I agree about preferring to use the watch upright in nightstand mode anyway.
