The bar below the keyboard

I just got my X and I notice that there is a bar of sorts below the keyboard in some apps. Is there anyway I can disable it?

This is the iPhone X equivalent to the home button. As far as I know, can't and shouldn't be disabled.

That’s the home indicator. It’s your new home button and can’t be hidden. Maybe in a future update.

It cannot be disabled. However, I wish that area didnt take up so much space. Stretch the message viewing area down farther in my opinion

And the gray space is to make it a bit easier to type I think.
