On every forums ppl are complaining about battery life, but their results of battery life aren't compareable at all.

Claiming that a battery lasts more than 9 hours without telling us how you used the phone is pretty useless.
So I tryed to figure out a testing condition that fits most ppls usage.

The best way of comparing the iPhone battery is playing a video, because a vid does not rely on user input.

So my suggestions for a testing condition that should work fine are:

* 3G should be off because of different signal strength.
* location services should be off because of different signal strength.
* Wifi should be off because of same reasons
* push should be off
* runtime: 8 hours ( it is very important not to play too few hours because different battery calibration; I found out in other forums that ppl who did the same test had different usage time at 80% but the same at 30% which is a result of different battery calibration )
* the vid should be the same
( no, I'm not a fan but it is the longest vid podcast I have found )

* sound should be off
* screen brightness should be fixed @ 50%

I will do this test tonight and post the results tomorrow so I will have really compareable results, and everybody who is unsure if his battery has a poor battery life should do the same.

This page contains information on the iPhone battery and how Apple determined its performance figures:

Apple - iPhone - Battery Test Information

Video content consisted of a repeated 2-hour 23-minute movie purchased from the iTunes Store. All settings were default except: Call Forwarding was turned on; Wi-Fi was associated with a network; the Wi-Fi feature Ask to Join Networks and Auto-Brightness were turned off. Battery life depends on the cellular network, location, signal strength, feature configuration, usage, and many other factors. Battery tests are conducted using specific iPhone units; actual results may vary.
