I picked up a purple mini 7 from Amazon… could not believe they had a near-immediate 20% discount.

Amazing device. Everyone complains about the 60Hz and jelly scroll but I got this to be primarily a media streamer and for that it totally excels. The aspect ratio is perfect for it. 16:9 can be slightly zoomed in without cropping too much or losing much clarity. The pixel density makes photos look a bit better than the M1 Air I’m comparing it to. The size is just perfect to hold. Split screen in landscape is a revelation at this size—just big enough to have, say, a YouTube livestream going on one side and some reading/shopping/socials on the other side. I thought it would be too small for this, but it’s actually perfect.

I would pay double for an OLED model with 120hz and faceID… but at $399 this is a fabulous device, and now it’s somewhat ‘future-proofed’ with 8GB, 3nm chip, pencil pro support, and AI capability.

Wonder if we'll see the 10th gen iPad any lower than $297? Getting one as a gift and wondering if I should just pull the trigger now...
