Your post seems more about you saying "Look at me" then it offers any really good information. Why didn't you post those pictures 3 months ago?

I looked it up. The Fug is a thin slip case. Not made specifically for the rMB. Seems to me it offers no drop protection. But, yes its thin. Seriously though, how thin do these cases really need to be to be usedful? Was it that much harder to carry the ICON? I put my hands on an ICON, does not seem all that much bigger.

There is a specific point to the ICON that the Fug does not address. Superior drop protection.

Oh I was merely saying it's been out there for several months... Not sure it's necessary to review every iteration of a product every time it's updated for a new device. If you look at any review of any Icon case, you can apply the opinions, reviews, etc to that of the rMB. It's literally exactly the same as every other Icon except designed for the rMB instead of a different laptop. The features and benefits it offered to an Air or a rMBP are the same features it offers to the rMB. No more, no less.

I agree the superior drop protection is its strong suit, but how often do you drop your computer? I've had macs for years, and I've never dropped it in the case. The real worry is not having a magnetic power cord pulling it off the desk.

The Fug was made for the Air 11"... it just happens to also fit the 12" ... it's just a little long, which actually works to a benefit since it doesn't close on the end. I prefer slim\sleek, tho my goal is to protect against scratches and dings inside my bag, not from dropping it. The Icon obviously provides superior protection if you plan on dropping your computer while in the case. However, with that comes significant profile increase. You add almost 3/4 of an inch to all sides of the computer.

I'm sticking with my Crumpler. I don't intend on dropping it, and if I do, that's the trade-off I accept for using a thin\sleek case.

EDIT: I uploaded a pic of the Fug on top of the Icon so you can see just how much bigger the icon is. Holding them both in my hand, the Icon feels MUCH MUCH bigger. And to be honest, I'm not sure the Icon would protect from a 4 foot drop any better.

Just got the brand new Incase Icon 12" and the sleeve is terrific, very happy. The MacBook fits snugly inside and there is about 1/3rd of an inch of EVA foam padding running around the internal perimeter that has a firmness to it, it's not a floppy sleeve. The magnetic closure is very cool and very sturdy, no more zippers to contend with. It's very thin and slim, looks great, and for purposes of a lightweight, sleek, innovative padded sleeve it's going to be perfect. It's the only sleeve they sell in the Apple Store, now I know why.

Highly recommended.

Was it really necessary to post stock images from their website in full-size which take up the whole page?

I agree the magnetic closure is nice. The oversized edges of the case are what make it protective, but undesirable to me. It basically makes the 12" Macbook the same footprint as a 13" rMBP in a neoprene case.

It's just not my thing. It's been in the drawer for 2 months as I've stuck with my Crumpler Fug.

It's a fantastic sleeve, probably the best sleeve for the 12" MacBook on the market, so I fail to see how images are a problem in this particular thread.

So if someone supports your opinion, there's no agenda, but anyone who brings up issues with a product you support has an agenda? Nice logic.

Anyhow, post your stock photos all you want, it just upsets forum readers to have full page images instead of the clickable thumbnails like the forum is designed for. Oh wait, that must be an agenda to push this forum's tools.

1. The stock photos were better than I could take personally.

2. Clickable thumbnails are an annoyance as they need to (wait for it) be clicked in order to be viewed. And the full sized photos are exactly what the forum is designed for. It's one of the tools on the posting header.

These are well-made sleeves, and are available in several different color combinations. https://www.etsy.com/listing/166637012/new-macbook-12-sleeve-macbook-air-11?ref=shop_home_active_1

The owner will also customize sleeves for specific devices and notebooks. It takes about 3 weeks from the order date for final delivery to the U.S. (about 2 weeks of that is the shipping time).

I ordered this sleeve few weeks ago and really happy with it. I ordered in different color combination. :)

Nothing premium about it. You're confusing premium with eccentric.
What are you talking about? They use one of the finest wool and leather materials I've owned, also they are handmade in Italy. You're buying quality too from HardGraft, not some cheap polyester ones sold at Etsy.

Let me translate that.... "we found the slowest sheep, grabbed it, held it down and shaved it. then we took the bugs and mud out of it's matted wool, washed it, and wove a case out of it. We did it all by hand because we didn't have enough orders to do it with a machine. Also, it's from Italy, so it must be good. Right? Common, Italy... right? Anyone?"

You really buy into the marketing-speak. Yeah Apple is good at creating premium buzz words, but I have zero interest in some hippy will case for my Macbook. No thanks.

Like I said, it's not premium just because it's expensive and they didn't make very many. Usually there's a reason they don't make many, and it's not because everyone wants one.

Nope, I completely disagree. They dont make many because they are exclusive and very focused on attention to detail. I dont know if you know cars, buta Pagani makes extremely low numbers of cars annually because they are very focused on attention to detail, same like Hardgraft.

It is pointless to talk on and on on this matter, people are different and we have very different point of views on design and price. For me myself, i can spend premium money for something that feels right to me. And it works!

I do, still recommend Hardgraft.

Quite true. A manufacturer's ultimate mark of success is convincing a buyer that something has quality equal to or greater than what they want to charge for it. Clearly they've done it with you. So if nobody else buys one, at least they've sold one. LOL

Me, I'll stick with more mainstream makers and materials. Not a big fan of chasing Sheep anyhow.

I have this and it's a very very nice case!

Hope this is not OT, and glad you like your case. I refuse to buy from this company as they describe their products as 'leather' in the headline and main description, with the 'PU leather' hidden way down in the body text where it's miss. On Amazon uk they claim that the cases RRP at something insane like £70 but are always reduced to £30. None of this feels like behaviour from a company with my best interests at heart...

Bought the Icon, which, although more expensive, was made by a company I trust, and offers better drop protection.

I'm aware of the product description etc and I'm not interested in a sleeve offering drop protection having never dropped a laptop in my life. For me the sleeve offers what it says on the tin so to speak and I rate it highly

I used to have a Surface Pro 3 and I returned it. I was left with a carrying case though, it's actually quite nice and fit the macbook perfectly. It has interior padded and zipper enclosure, the zipper also has a card to protect it from running accross the unit when it's placed in there. It has a great design as well, it's pretty affordable as well.

They don;t carry the design I have anymore, but it's a great case.
