I wonder how accurate their numbers are. I mean do they count down to the last couple bucks or do they just round it to the nearest million? :D

I have to be honest: if I came across that much cash and I was doing a cop's job and making a cop's salary, I might be slightly tempted to just take a couple small stacks of cash.

What kind of idiots would turn in this kind of cash. There was nothing to account for so they could've took like 50 mill and split it amongst themselves.

I hate to burst the bubble peeps but that's by far not the biggest pile of cash ever. Try the $8billion the US government piled into the back of aircraft on pallets and shipped over to Iraq in 2003 :D

And that was just the lunch money for Halliburton employees.....

I would think people in this industry would pretty much demand either US dollars or Euros for their comparative stability...you don't want be sitting on $205m US in cash pesos (for example) next time they decide to devalue the currency.

Probably weigh it.

Maybe, but you'd have to make sure all the bills were the same, first. I mean a $1 bill weighs roughly (neglecting any differences in ink, wear, etc) the same as a $100 bill. Big difference in value, though. :)

From what I know, currency starting at $5 and up have a small magnetic strip embedded in the note (you've probably seen one, but if you havent, hold the bill up to a light and look for it). Now it may be that a special scanner (a la James Bond, The World is Not Enough) could be able to rapidly scan a pile of cash by reading those strips (?) or they actually ran it through several cash counters (like you'd see at the bank) and quickly verified that the notes were all of the same denomination.

Just some thoughts.

The cops that planned and carried out that drug bust should be given a cut. Half a million each or something.

If I had that kind of money...I'd fill a bathtub with it. Uncle Scrooge style. :D

I wonder what actually does happen to cash like that. I'd like to think it went into community regeneration or something, but the authorities in Mexico are not renowned for their transparency...

Prosecutors said the raid was part of an investigation into a pharmaceutical company suspected of importing chemicals to make the drugs from India

I see the drug trade isn't profitable enough - now they have to look to outsource it to India.
