I was chatting with one of my good friends the other day and we got on the topic of child-friendly words for male and female genitalia. As a kid, just about everyone has words for their “pee pee” or their “flower”. It seems that just about every family is different.

My family used “tea pot” for the boy and “cookie” for the girl. A friend of my family has a daughter who is 10 and she calls it her “pickle”… I thought this was kind of bizarre. Did you guys have funny kid-friendly nicknames for those things when you were young?

intresting topic... but yes piemel and spleet in flemish

My mom says they called vaginas "frogs" when she was a little girl.

This is slightly off-topic, but I always referred to my penis as "Mjollnir" (the hammer of Thor)

This is rather silly, though. Was I the only kid taught to say "penis" and "vagina"? I heard other kids talking about "peepees" and stuff like that and I thought they were idiots. This was when I was 6. Are we still so completely repressed and emasculated as a culture that your children speak a pseudo-language?

That's a bit of a mouthful.

(Sorry.)

We called a penis a 'winkie'/'winky'.

I can't remember what a vagina was called. Did we even know what one was back then?

I remember the girls calling them Mini's when I was in primary school.

Was always willy for the boys bits, up until about 11... when things became much more adult orientated. :D

"Cock" and "Fanny" is what I remember from when I was a kid..

I'd never heard of the term cock before until I moved up north from Berkshire to Yorkshire.

I also remember the term boney foo foo for ladies bits.

I'm sure there's some others, but willy and mini both spring to mind as the first ones I was aware of.

Yeah...what's a vagina?

I'm just kidding.

Well there son, when a mommy and a daddy want to have a baby... *trails off*
understands comedy

I know that Shakespeare's Romeo refers to it as a 'pump' in Romeo and Juliet, he goes on further to say that it is 'well flowered' :p

We had wij for the bloke and tooty for the lasses.

Wijjy [sp? haha] and Tooty Fruity as extended versions.

When I was in college I babysat a little girl who always called her girl part her "yoni." I had never heard that term before, so I looked it up and it's a Sanskrit word meaning "divine passage." Pretty strange thing for a 3-year old to call it, if you ask me. But her mom was a big time hippie so she must have taught her daughter to call it that.
As a kid my siblings and I learned to call them by their proper names from our parents and we learned all the other names on the playground...

My parents didn't use silly names. Penis and vagina it was. Same for my brother's kids.
