Am I seeing this right? Arsenal's GOALIE got red-carded?:
Yep, that's right. Got the card for bringing down Eto'o as he closed in on goal. They've been playing much of the match with ten men.

Henry's got himself into some good positions, but because they're a man down and he's been playing alone up front he's got no one in support. Frustrating to watch, and I'm not even a Gunner!

Well, commiserations to all the MacRumors Gunners. A excellent effort but not quite enough to get the result.

No shame in the way they played, IMHO. There's always next season... ;)

Cheers, m8.

Yep, tnx to the hard-fought 4th place, we'll be there next season.

was there any doubt as to the outcome? not in my mind

Do you mean before the game or after the sending off?

Once Jens was sent off, it we were up against it and having missed chances, once they scored, it was inevitable we'd go down really.

Appalling decision by the ref though. Effectively ruined the match in 20 minutes.

Ah well. Thank god there's a World Cup

I really thought we played well until Lehmann got sent off. We were on the attack for most of the opening 15 minutes, and unfortunately the red card came out. It was a clear scoring chance so you can't blame the ref for that.

We really did well 10v11, we got a goal and we had chances to score in the second half. Unfortunately it wasn't our night.

Really proud of the gunners, but a bit dissappointed. I've decided that to cheer myself up I'm gonna splash out on one of those new MacBooks on saturday :)

He's not a happy bunny. Outright accused the ref of supporting Barcelona.

Hmm.... just some frustration showing. He'll probably regret that tomorrow.

But, the referee was the worst I've seen in any final.
I agree with AlBDamned; The first 20 minutes was looking like it was going to be one hell of a match!
Simply let play go on, give Barca the goal, and leave it 11 against 11. I'm pretty sure it would never have stayed 1-0 to Barcelona! We were in with a huge shout!

Letting the goal stand would have been the right decision IMO. It was a sending off offence but Barça scored anyway, so it didn't really affect the outcome.

Definitely ruined the game for the next 10-20 mins or so, but at least it picked up again.

Best luck next year though. At least Henry can't complain about Lasagne not being on your side :D :D

Yeah I saw that. Way to kill your chances of being offered that job again.
Indeed. I've just had a look and fortunately the official in question doesn't seem to be on the list for the World Cup, so there's no need to go checking his wardrobe to see if there are any Sweden, Paraguay or Trinidad and Tobago shirts stashed away in there...

Nah dynamicv, a day later I'll probably get buyer's remorse :D Roll on the World Cup I say!

Yeah, when you realise you've just spent your season ticket money :D. Switch to Stockport mate, a season ticket leaves you with change from £300.

EDIT : And you get the benefit of away matches at Plainmoor and Gigg Lane. How can you resist?

A valid point, but to be fair the continuous cost of travelling backwards and forwards from London every other weekend would swallow up any saving.

Hull, on the other hand, has a direct rail-link to the capital... ;)

Man of the match: Eto'o. He got so many chances in, and adapted amazingly on the left, in the first few minutes. Larsson played really well too. He provided his teammates with such wonderful balls...
