If it doesn't affect battery life, I am down with that. Otherwise I don't want it.
If they could use some kind of fibre optic to use the display backlight to power it then yea, if not I'm in the same boat as you... Preserve battery life!

If its for a flash I agree would be good. Hate the idea of it being on all the time... don't care about battery life but it just seems a beacon at night of I have an iPhone please please come and steal it from me!!!!!!

Cool factor. The macbooks have it and obviously don't need it.

I agree it will look cool but surely having your iphone stolen isn't cool, and if it isnt on all the time whats the point. I know the macbooks have it but compared to the rest of the system its a v, v, small amount of battery and doesn't matter about showing of the macbook as long as your not in a park late at night!!!!

This glowing apple thing is my iPhone nano.

The only reason I can see why you'd want one is so you can show everyone you have an iPhone. For that reason I think it'd make you look like a douche, my other main argument is that I don't want my expensive phone to be shining a frickin' apple silhouette if I use it at night.

I don't want the Troopers seeing my glowing Apple when I am talking on my iPhone at night in violation of the USELESS New York cell phone law.

are you really that scared to get your phone taken? You need to go work out or something...stop being such *******.
i dont want a feature put onto my phone because i am scared that I cant defend myself from someone who might want it.
are you serious?

"IF" they do release with the "glowing apple" it will serve the same purpose as the red light on the top of the BlackBerry. Basically a way to notify that a message, text, email etc. arrived.

I would welcome such a feature as that saves me the trouble of powering up the device to "check" if I missed a call etc.

I do NOT think it is purely aesthetic nor do I think it will serve as a "flash" (although I could be wrong - but I do not think it will "glow" bright enough to illuminate sufficiently).

I like that idea but still if there is the ability to light wouldn't surprise me if they made it "flash" most phones with LED so called flashes aren't bright enough either but good for the marketing department!!!!

sure thing Mr. Tough Guy, let us know how that works out when you get swarmed by a bunch of thugs who saw your iPhone from a block away.

Guess I'll just get thirty people together and steal your phone, then, instead of four.

why waste the engineering to put such a non-feature into the device

BECAUSE IT LOOKS DAMN COOL.

same reason the macbook line has it.
apple is just following suit with what they already have,
and it still looks BA

P.S.
to everyone who is scared of getting it stolen, DO NOT flaunt it! number 1 reason they get stolen if because your waving your phone around bragging about how much money you have.
and if your that scared about getting mugged, carry mace/knife or something, seriously, if your a man, BE A MAN.

It *could* look cool, although I'd like an "on/off" switch. I'm not quite sure how it'd serve as a flash, as it'd have to be a clear logo for the bulb to create a light bright enough.

And it'd be a little odd looking to have it with that feature anyway.
