Wow..... *expression of awe!* Where did you get a crystal ball? - I want one!!!

Who's to say that we won't have a new hardware tuesday - i imagine jobsy didn't want to overshadow his PeeCee 'clones' too much.

The most important question it seems, which has (to my knowledge) not yet been answered, is, in fact, two questions:

1). Will we have intel stickers on our computers?!
AND
2). Will Macs now play that annoying intel jingle everytime we start up?!

doc

If apple wants marketing money and support from intel then they will have to otherwise they need not. Secondly apple might endup putting it, one for money and also as INTEL has a very strong brand and that might get more switchers!

INTEL jingle is better than the mac bang! :D

The worst thing about yesterday was SJ's statement about exciting PPC things to come. That put a real spanner in the works for me, you can buy a PB now and get at least 12 months solid use before the Intel thing kicks off or you wait for one of the special PPC things to come still pay a high price and get potentially less use out of it before the big change.

There is little to no doubt that unless one of the big PPC things is a dual core G4 for the PB any Intel M processor running OS X will slaughter it. It is also debateable that even if dual core G4's did become readily available whether apple would want to introduce them at this stage. It is a little sad to think but the current Powerbooks maybe as good as PPC based apple laptops are going to get give or take changes to say a higher resolution screen.

Uh. How can a thing that never existed die? Also a G5 Powerbook would be near impossible, it would be like having a portable egg scrambler with a 6 minute battery life

It's the idea that existed. Jobs realized that George Foreman was coming out with the portable grilling machine...

the next powerbook update will have to be huge because the powerbook will probably be in the middle to late transition, or it could be the first. Paris is looking awesome for some new type of pb
