The dreaded double sms tone on the 4S

I seem to be having the same issue. Except I only notice a double tone when I am in the notification center (ISX)

It's where the text tone plays twice rapidly. It pretty much plays the first half of the first tone then plays the second fully. Gets pretty annoying.

I've looked through various options and I can't seem to find a solution.
 
I've been also having trouble too with the double tone. It goes away after I reboot the phone and then comes back randomly for no reason. I'll be watching for a fix.
 
I know it may sound strange, but try changing your text tone, rebooting and then changing it back to the original tone. Seemed to fix the issue for me :)
 
oh, I thought you were talking about getting a text, and then it "reminding" you about the text like 1 min. later.

essentially getting the same text twice in 2 min. if you don't touch your phone.

on a side note, can you turn that off?

This is what I get, and it's the most annoying this in the world :(
 
I had the same issue on my iPhone 4 on iOS 4 when it was jailbroken and do on my 4S as well. I'm guessing it has something to do with both bitesms and the stock message app notifying of a message

I just emailed bitesms to see if they have any insight will let you all know when I hear back

It's not Bite. I have the same issue, it goes away after a reboot, but comes back randomly. I don't have Bite installed. I have SBSettings, LockInfo, and a few other small tweaks installed.
 
It has nothing to do with the jailbreak or any of its apps. It was happening to me before the jailbreak with the stock messages app.

Yeah I was thinking it's bite. I know Bite used to have a feature to assign ringtones to certain contacts. Think it was removed once Apple added it.

I think it's some interference between the original messages app and Bite. The weird thing is that it ONLY happens when I am inside of ISX.
 
I was seeing the same issues yesterday. For me it was happening when my phone was unlocked and I was just on the springboard. I also have intelliscreenX installed. I was not getting the double tone when my phone was locked with intelliscreen receiving the texts. After I messed around with selected the alert tone I wanted and a respring, the error went away. I am waiting to see if it comes back on its on like some users are experiencing. I hope it’s just a quick respring fix and be done with it.
 
I've only had this issue when i had Move2Unlock 1.7 installed. the dev updated the tweak but it still gives me the double sms tones(or at least had it happened to me once).

I have lockinfo installed and the problem is still persisting. Any solutions out there?
 
I believe this is an iOS 5 problem and has nothing to do with the jailbreak. I have had this happening on my 4s since I got it, randomly like the posters above have explained. It always has been fixed by shutting the phone off and turning it back on (till it does it again). I purchased my 4s on launch day. A side note this has also been happening to my wife's iPhone 4 since she upgraded to ios 5.
