This should've been the Moto X and it should've been made globally available

One of the admirable things with Apple (and increasingly Samsung) is there's one phone type and it ships globally with the required radios

Shipping a carrier exclusive phone now is so 2008

x10000.

There are 3 different flagship Motorolas now and it's confusing. Moto X 2014, Nexus 6, and now this.

Motorola Droid's have always been Verizon exclusives. I don't even consider them Motorola phones. They are Verizon phones put together by Motorola.

Same can be said for the Nexus 6. I don't see Motorola advertising the 6 for Google anywhere?

I'm on Verizon but I hate exclusivity from carriers and OEM's. This is why I never experienced iPhones early on. The OG Droid was my first Android experience but if both were available back in 2009 on Verizon I would have went iPhone due to the Apple store dominance and OS.
The Droid line was developed because Verizon needed a phone to battle iPhones. But it's a different story today and the Verizon+Droid name plate is not needed anymore. Android surpassed iOS and there are a handful of phones that I could live with today like the Note 4 (current phone), Nexus 6, Droid Turbo, Moto X, M8 and the LG G3. Not really a fan of the Samsung S5 but the S6 is going to be a beast next year.

This would definitely replace my iPhone 5S if it comes to T-Mobile.

Agreed, I mean the Droid Turbo unveiling event today was run by Verizon (not Motorola).

Looks pretty nice. Battery life should be amazing. Don't really care for the back.

There are 3 back options:
- Ballistic Nylon
- Metallic Black
- Metallic Red
I'm sure you probably looked at all 3, but just in case you saw my earlier post in the thread with the pictures of the nylon back and thought that was the only option...

Droid phones are commissioned by Verizon and I have no doubt they made Motorola remove certain bands. The fact that the phone will come GSM unlocked like all Verizon phones makes this especially ironic :) Otherwise you could buy this at the very decent price, then use on any carrier you want.

There's not much to dislike in this phone besides the chin and capacitive buttons, based on personal preference, and lack of sd card. It has a near stock skin and in fact will be better than stock Android on other phones (except Motorola's) due to their special software and sensors.

Well, nevermind about me getting the Droid Turbo :(

Apparently just a few days ago Verizon killed off their $60 unlim talk/text + 2GB AND phone subsidy every two years.

Now Verizon single line plans are:
  • Same $60/mo
  • 1GB of data
  • NO phone subsidy

Sigh...

So not enough bands for ole att? What a bummer. This phone was real competition for the nexus 6 I was considering.

Sell me one of tees unlocked (with an unlocked bootloaders) for gsm carriers and id have a very hard choice.

Bummer......i have seen advertisements on tv for $45 for the same plan above. But do not know if that includes a subsidy.

The $45 plan is actually for 500mb data, but they are doing a promo and upping it to 1GB.

I like the battery, but can't deal with the tiny screen (compared to note) and it's a Verizon exclusive so it will take eons to get updates.

No subsidy included... AND only $45 if you use Verizon Edge, adding another $25+ per month to your monthly bill over 24 months (causing the total bill to become $70 per month).

One thing I'm not a fan of is Verizon shoving edge down our throats. Still have no clue how it's supposed to be a better deal. And now the have gimped their single line plan. Great service, great phones HORRIBLE plans for anyone other than a family with 4 or more smartphones. But just about every carrier is like that now. One has to pretty much go prepaid or be grandfathered in for a decent single line plan these days.

I consider decent to be unlimited talk text and 2gb of data for less than $55

That's the plan I'm on with T-mo. It's $45 a month.

Well before they increased the price of the single line plans a couple weeks ago the unlimited talk & text w/ 2 GB of data (which I got when I purchased my Plus) is $50 a month plus the price of your installment. Now it's $60 after the Edge discount.
