My iBook is super fast at Web Browsing. I haven't event hought it was slow. Also, I have a 2.7GHz PC and a Athlon XP 3200+ PC... and I don't really see a difference.

surfing speed

I definitely find web surfing to be faster on my PC (3 GHz P4 vs. Dual 2 G5 vs. 1.67 PB), but the only time it gets out of hand is when I have multiple pages open that are running flash. If I have firefox open with 5 tabs that all have flash, then the PC seems to be fine but the macs start to get slower. It almost seems like firefox on the mac will continue to render all flash even if it is not in the foremost tab, but on the PC this does not seem to be the case. I have no real evidence to back that up though. My G5 is fast enough that even when it slows down a bit its still very fast, but browsing on my powerbook can get pretty slow (even with 2 gigs of ram). ...and I doubt it is just my system, its been the same on my G3 ibook, G4 iBook, powerbook and powermac. (both iBooks are dead bricks now after less than two years, just as a side complaint ;) ) OS 10.2, 10.3 and 10.4. It keeps getting better, but it never catches up to the PC (in surfing speed only!).

Safari seems a little faster, but it fails to work properly on so many pages that I tend to just not use it anymore. ...although I see there is an update that is supposed to improve this, lets see how it goes....

BTW - Love how "troll" has become something you throw at someone who isn't speaking the party line. Its like being a 'counter-revolutionary' in soviet times, or 'anti-american' now. Bravo - way to bring propaganda to macrumors.

No, you haven't been reading. A troll throws a post out and then never replies. The purpose of the post is to inflame the forum, not to inform or get a problem solved. It doesn't matter if the position is East or West, its the manner of posting and not responding thats trollish.

You can jump on a soapbox and say Apple is a ripoff company if you like - just be prepared to support your position in debate.

I wasn't targeting your accusation of the 'troll', it wasn't all related to this thread. There is some other thread out there right now where someone was getting the kernel panic screen on their powerbook and they were being called a troll for saying it was blue and not grey or some such ridiculousness. Also, even in this thread people were pretty quick to play the troll card. By the time you had said it, yes, it seems that he had not returned and maybe it was warranted. (I was paying some attention ;) ).

I was just making a general forum comment in general. If you don't believe me that people throw the word troll around like some political attack I'll be happy to get a case of beer and spend tonight composing a post of a couple dozen examples of this :D

OK, my Psychic User Interface (PUI for short) isn't working all that well today, I didn't pick up that you were commenting on a different thread...

;)

Canada Ram has defined the term "troll" for all usage on this site. This thread is a "troll" thread because Shane-o-Mac simply posted a controversial, un-substantiated topic and then abandoned the thread without seeking any true answers or solutions to his problem, a true definition of "trolling" as defined by most blogs and forums on the net.
