The entire thing necessary?

I'm wondering if, when purchasing an iPhone, it's necessary to know the primary account holder's full social security number, or simply just the last four digits.

I merely would like a sense of reassurance as I'm unable to contact my dad right now, and may not be able to until after 7am tomorrow. I'd appreciate the help; thanks!

the last 4. that's what I did at apple store with the 3gs and that's all i needed with the preorder this time with the iphone 4.

But at the store they might not let u purchase it because u aren't the actual person of the account. I had to literally sweet talk the apple store girl last year into doing it.
