The government might do a lot of stupid things and waste money on useless crap, but NASA is one thing that I think is worth every dime.

Except the Mars rover that crashed because they forgot to use the metric system, that was a waste 😉

Things like this make me want to go back to Space Camp. Yes, I just admitted I went to Space Camp when I was a kid. Twice.

I loooooove space. However, I have never seen a space shuttle launch on live TV.😱

I watched this launch on NASA TV streamed live to my MacBook. I love the Hubble telescope pictures and hope this crew's mission goes well. Worth every penny!

the hubble is one of the most important satellite of our generation. it's shuttle services are worth its weight in gold.

It would be funny to find out a Mac Mini G4 or something would run something like this 🙄

Actually, given the age of the Hubble telescope, a G4 mini would probably run circles around the computer powering it 😉

Supposedly, a pocket calculator is more powerful than the computers on the Apollo spacecraft that sent men to the moon.

Yeah - I believe it's currently operating on something equiv to a rad hardened 486.

The two mars rovers run on RAD6000 chips, 20Mhz. MRO, in orbit now, and MSL, the next rover, runs on the RAD750 which is a PowerPC derived chip 🙂

Is there a live feed I can get in the UK? I thought I saw a link to it from BBC and now I can't locate it.

@ MacNut & bartelby - Hmmm, well I seem to get no picture in safari and firefox both. I get audio, occasionally.

Damn.
