I came across this talk from Jeff Han about his breakthrough multi-touch Touchscreen.

It got me dreaming about the future of the technology and what it means with apple products.

Imagine a macbook Pro like the nintendo DS. There is no keyboard, the whole area is a touchscreen input then the display as well...
    Theres so many possibilities

    Enjoy the talk

    Luke.

Sounds dreadfull. Touchscreens for typing just Do.Not.Work. It's horrid.

    Good video.

A bit dated. Filmed in February 2006.

Shows that it takes a while for good ideas to get from the drawing board to the consumer.

BTW, I really like the multi-touch interface concept.

Impressive. Nothing new now, but seeing it demoed like that made me excited for it yet again. And I think physical/virtual keyboards is simply going to be a matter of preference going forward. I don't mind a virtual keyboard at all, but some people just don't like them. It'll become a standard option.

A touchscreen would be nice along with the keyboard.

Watched it? I've made my own IR LED pen and mucked about with a Wimote in the company conference room having a go at it a while back :)

And I have tried a touch screen keyboard. It's called an iPod Touch or iPhone. I don't like typing on it because it has zero feedback.

    Haptic feedback

I think it could work if they had the base of the macbook (where the keyboard and trackpad are) as a big touchpad display and with this haptic stuff I think the pixels or a surface layer 'bump' out to make it feel real but its still touch?

I think theres going to be touch and virtual everything in the future, just gotta work out how it can work best.

    Love it

I saw that video awhile back. That video and a few others inspired my own Multi-Touch interface concept. You can see it here: http://macslate.blogspot.com/

I hope the new rumors about an Apple Tablet are finally coming true!
