Apple is moving forward "Cloud" computing and I think they are going to really start pushing harder with some of the improvements coming to Mobileme in the next year. I think in some small fashion they demonstrated that by killing the xServe. However until that plan is completely rolled out and shown to work we need server grade hardware to run OS X server on.

My question is for those that want to see Apple stay relevant(or at least not completely disappear) in the business environment why couldn't Apple package/market OS X server in a VM environment. I think it is the best of both worlds if they released a tuned VM version. We could maintain "OSX server" in the corporate world running on current baseline hardware that is already running in that environment and continue to see performance gains as that hardware is upgraded.
