Hey there i have owned my macbook pro for 5months now, but i haven't touched Garageband even though I'm a bit of a musician. I plugged my guitar into the audio input on the right side and did the step by step instructions on setting it up, now it works on and off is this because maybe i bought a cheap jack? Also, i have been looking at USB/FW preamps and i really do not know what/if i need one (i know that bit should be in hardware thought i would squeeze it in).
