Huge thanks to the evasi0n team, I am extremely happy to have been able to upgrade my 4S from iOS 5, so I can use apps that require iOS 6. I have a veritable ton of tweaks installed, and I would not have updated if a jailbreak had not come out.

So, on the topic of this thread…

I donated to evasi0n.

Translation:

I require everyone to know that I am better than the general population of people who do not donate, and am therefore a better human being than you.

Not that I agree that this thread is a good idea, but if it were, it is almost 2 weeks too late.

Actually later than that if you wants to donate it should have been while they were trying to create/perfect it. Al the team has had a Paypal account for a long time.

But I guess the OP deserves a hand clap?

Why wait.
I grabbed the 1.0 version of the jailbreak within 30 seconds after the website download links went active, ran it immediately on my iPhone 5.
Jailbreak was done in under 4 minutes.
So at Jailbreak download plus 5 minutes I hit the donate button.
After all, it isn't like the members of the evad3rs were scamming us.

Might not have read right, I meant he could have donated during the creation of any of the jailbreaks, hedidnthaveto wait from the release.

I did the same thing Downloaded Jailbroke then donated but what the big deal. I mean why do we need a thread saying we did. I have also donated too St. Judes Children's hospital and a few local food drives and a few animal causes. Nothing against team evasi0n. I think these other causes are more important so why not a threads about that.

I'm assuming you donated via paypal? how/where can them money? can someone provide a link? thanks

No offense to those that work food drives or on animal causes, but there is not a shortage of people who can accomplish those tasks. However, the skill set to that the evasi0n team has is a fairly elite set of skills that are not readily available. So while I completely agree with you that a "beat my chest, smell my own farts" thread saying I donated is not a great idea, it is a good idea to have threads like this around to gently remind people who may have not thrown a buck or two at the evasi0n team to do so. They spent quite a bit of personal time creating this and millions of people have used it. Providing them with a little scratch and further motivation to continue to do this work will only help all of us users in the future as Apple releases patches and the next version of IOS.

I didnt donate and dont loose any sleep about it at all however I am very greatful they did it

That's the idea, and you have phrased it much better than I did.

This thread serves to show that donating is a common and normal thing, so people who are considering a donation will know they'll be in good company. It also may help remind people who intended to donate but got sidetracked for whatever reason.

This is not meant to be a bragging thread, nor a competition. I am sure many people donated more than I did, and sooner too. What matters is that we are all in this community together, and we all recognize the benefit and importance of a jailbreak.

Really? You made a thread for all of us to say "wow, you're great!" Ok.... wow, you're great!

Everyone stop being an A$$ to this guy. He doing this for no other reason other than, trying to Help out the evasi0n team. And to be honest I totally forgot about donating till I read this. I kinda got caught up in the rush of jalbreaking/customizing my phone and it was a nice reminder that I should pay for the things I took. I think that he made This thread to help out evasi0n not toot his own horn. Everyone grow up
