what a mess but hopefully success
Called my credit card company a few hours before apple store was supposed to go online to say I'd be making a purchase on apple.com for this roundabout sum of money, please don't let fraud department block it. Oh sure, no prob. At 3:01, apple.com still said we'll be right back.... Same at 4:01, 5:01, 6:01 etc. App on iPhone said my model was "currently unavailable". Managed to place my order via the app on my iPad at 3:40am EST. Yippee. Of course I couldn't check order status on apple.com, yep, "we'll be right back...." but I thought, surely all is well. Ding ding, message from my credit card company. SUSPECTED FRAUDULENT ACTIVITY!!! But we're on it, we blocked the fraudulent attempt on apple.com. What???? I finally managed to get through to them and cleared that up (a bit of yelling on my part). When I finally got through to an apple rep, she said all was well but a bit later came the email from apple that my order NEEDS ATTENTION!! Damn. No way to do that on apple.com, yep, "we'll be right back..." Got through to customer service once they opened, reauthorized the payment, rep said all was well. Except that I then got some emails from Apple reminding me that I have 2 reservations that need to be completed by Saturday noon or they'll be canceled. What???? This time waited 3 hours for Apple customer service, rep said not to worry, must be an error, my order is processing.
