Hello,

I understand that MacRumors wants users to use the “Contact Us” form, but because the same people who make all the decisions here also run the “Contact Us” form, it renders said form useless. It’s the equivalent of reporting a soldier to Kim Jong Un for beating a North Korean citizen. It’s completely ineffective at doing anything and more or less just serves as a dumping ground so users think their issue is being solved and cared about, but that simply isn’t the case. There’s nowhere to go because threads like this one are deleted into the void and users with good intentions are permabanned for simply raising concerns regarding how the site is governed. Those that endorse every single moderation decision and ideology are thrown a bone and are allowed to essentially do whatever they want. It’s corruption in its purest form. It’s a cancer that’s eating away at this place. There are people who are certainly aware of this. If so, you know who you are.

Goodbye, but don’t let me fall on deaf ears.

Jay

Could you give some examples? At the end of the day though MacRumors isn’t a democracy. It’s a site that has an owner and a team that runs it who’re ultimately in charge. They have an interest in pleasing the audience because we make up the forums’ content and view the front page and generate ad revenue that way and such, but nobody is under any obligation to change the site to fit certain users’ requirements.

I am not often on more controversial threads so probably don’t see much of the moderation stuff you talk about - I mostly stick to the tech. But I’m interested to know how you think a contact us form ought to work if it shouldn’t go to the folk who run the place

Jay,

In general, we are fine with feedback, even public feedback - as we have allowed in this fourm for years. It was what informed our decision to end the PRSI forum.

There, however, is a difference between posting feedback and what amounts to trolling.

If you don’t agree with a rule, you can state your objection but should ultimately follow the rules or you are welcome to stop participating on the site. Some people did not want to do either. They persisted on pushing the lines and trying to cause problems and divisiveness.

it’s no different from someone who complains about the word censor then proceeds to circumvent it and egg on others just to “test” the mods. That user would be banned, not for complaining about the word censor, but for being a troll.

If someone has been banned and truly believes they don’t fall in this category, you may email me directly arn@normalkid.com. Despite what you may have heard, no one has been banned for contacting me.

I’m closing this thread because this appears to be another part of that campaign.
