because you KNOWWWW for sure? i bet anyone that orders in the first 2-3 hrs will get a watch on launch day. They will update the shipping dates when things calm down. Same thing happens with the phones pre orders...
Glad I got my two orders in @ 3:04 with the initial 4/24-5/8 delivery times. This is lucky for me because I always have bad luck with this kind of stuff. Now I'm waiting for my CC to be charged $1400.

The app has been the way to go the past few launches for sure. I guess most people still don't consider it? I would think the secret was out considering I used it to get my iPhone 5 lol.

I ordered two (a Sport with green band, and Sport with white band). I ordered the Sport using Apple Pay on the Apple Store app at 3:02am (thank the Lord for Apple Pay!), then hopped on my computer to purchase the white one using some gift cards I'd been saving up.
I think the second watch made it into the 4/24-5/8 delivery window. Can't be sure. God-willing, I'll at least receive the first one on the 24th ...

Tons of accessories? I ordered a black sports band and black classic buckle within 2 minutes of 3am and the sports band says 2-4 weeks, while the classic buckle just says "May."

They must have made a test run and are now collecting orders and then actually go out and make them

)Oh well I guess I owe the scalpers and Angela Ahrendts an apology because I've been saying between my husband and myself we don't know ANYONE who had an interest in this watch and that included teens through 60-somethings all who have Apple products and income and education to be in the right target market. This includes a lot of people in tech jobs. My sister in law wanted one only after I sold her on it.

Im thinking we will still get our watches on the 24th. The 4-6 week timeline is Apple doing a little CYA.
It's pretty funny that the link band has quicker shipping times by itself rather than with a watch. Surprised it was easier to buy a watch w/ sport band and buy link afterward.
The app saved my life. I spent 4 minutes looking at the website, that still showed the "We're Down" screen. Had to settle for the green 42mm Sport, but whatever! A few minutes later and I would've had to wait.
