The Internet in your hands

Holding the Internet in your hands is a must-have experience. iPad gives me that experience in a way no other device ever has, and since I got mine, I find the old way of browsing to be unsatisfying at some level. On my laptop, for example, the content -- especially site navigation -- seems distant now. I keep wanting to touch the screen, or....interact with it somehow, only I can't. And the screen size and quality on iPad really make things pop. Now, the screen on other computers seems too far away or something.

This feels so much more natural. 😀
 
I agree. When it comes to web surfing, the 9.7" screen somehow feels larger (and easier to navigate) than my 24" iMac's. I guess you could actually call that somewhat "magical".
 
The iPad rules😀. Way to go Apple! I'm still waiting for the 3G but I've been to the Apple store several times and spent a lot of time with the WiFi version. Someone on another thread said the iPhone was good enough for surfing. NO WAY. I spent close to 2 hours in the Drs. office today with my wife. After a while I decided to use my iPhone and check MacRumors. Have you ever tried to navigate and read this forum on the iPhone after having used the iPad? It was exasperating to say the least and a nightmare to say the most. I gave up after a few minutes. Facebook wasn't too bad but I put the iPhone away quickly. Iphone is great for most things but after browsing with the iPad, oh well, you get the idea.😀
 
I totally agree. The iPad is amazing. I haven't used my 27" iMac since I've had it other than printing a few things and transferring photos. Surfing the web on the iPad is so much more enjoyable to me now. It almost feels uncomfortable to use the iMac now compared to using the iPad on the couch, bed or anywhere else comfortable. I love my iPad. 🙂

I remember this feeling the first time I got my iPhone. It got to the point where I was trying to two finger zoom in on a magazine. I can't wait until I get my iPad, but I can only imagine what the experience will be on a screen that big.

Wow, maybe someone should go tell Steve about this and point him in the direction of the iPod Touch. 😉 😛 😀

I was without a computer since I bought my iPad launch day. When my brother very kindly lent me his a few days ago, I just stared at it and almost didn't want to use it lol. The iPad is way faster than the older laptop and I only use the laptop for Hulu and Air video server streaming to my iPad.

I use my laptop 4 mins a day usually unless I'm watching Hulu and my iPad the rest of the time. It felt kind of strange to type on the laptop! It IS great having the Internet in my hands instead of on a big laptop.
 
If somebody is on the fence about the iPad, the deal winner is the hands-on experience. After I had played with one a few times and before we bought the WiFi version I was very impressed as I watched people interact with one for the first time. The user reactions were really something to just observe.

The hands-on experience sold my wife on it. She was not interested originally but once she picked one up and used it, she became very interested and we bought one for her. So I have been playing with hers while waiting for my 3G ! I can't wait to get it and have the Internet in my hands almost anyplace I go!

My first phone with data capability was a BlackBerry about 5 years ago. Didn't get the data plan because of the small screen and $40.00 per month for the data. Then I purchased an HTC with windows mobile, HUGE MISTAKE. That version of windows mobile constantly locked up and I had to remove the battery to reset. Bought the first iPhone 5 months after release and fell in love. Upgraded to the 3Gs one week after release. Greatest mobile device since the wheel🙂. Now usurped by the next generation of greatest mobile device, the iPad. I was going to get the WiFi version but now I know I need the 3G. It will not totally replace the iPhone since I do talk, take photos, record movies clips and use some apps where I need the compactness of the iPhone, but it will be a major player in my computing world. Since I have the i7 iMac I can see it eventually replacing my MBP when it goes bye-bye. I've been using my MBP for the past 7 hours on my lap at 133 to 136 degrees, ouch. It's sitting on a lap desk on my lap and I'm sweating.
 
Next Step: 15" iPad that weighs 300g, yeaah I know thats like 50% larger and about less than half the weight.

EDIT: Oh and yeah I love the internet in my hands.
 
I bet that all of you get more fingerprints on your iPad screen than you do on your notebook \ desktop screens.

Nothing is perfect.

Why would you get fingerprints on a notebook/desktop?? You wouldn't. Not a very good argument. We are enjoying the internet browsing on our iPads, why do you feel it necessary to rain on the parade?
 
I love my iPad but don't like to use quotes to describe my like for it that were first said in the apple video. Great device though.
 
I watched my girlfriend trying to touch the MacBook Pro screen after using the iPad. She was getting frustrated that it wasn't registering anything, I just let her do it for a minute before she realized what was happening. You get used to it fast. 🙂
 
It's even better using Atomic browser since it has full screen browsing with no menus at all, so the webpage fills the whole screen. It's freaking sweet.

This *just* happened to me this morning. My husband handed me his MacBook pro to complete an amazon order and I was touching the screen and wondering why the link wasn't working. To be fair, I had been using my iPad for almost an hour just before that but it was a freaky experience especially because he had to ask me what the hell I was doing before I realized my mistake.

I guess I have really bonded with my iPad!!

Use the macrumors mobile version on your iPhone, works great while out. Also, use the FB app as well.
