On a hard surface yes, but not on a soft surface.

Perhaps some people put a cushion on their lap so they don't have to keep holding the iPad up, or like me, lay on the bed with it.

I wish the speaker(s) were on the front, facing you.

As it stands, the person sitting to my right gets blasted by audio while I can barely hear it.

For me, one speaker on each side of the screen in landscape would be ideal.

PERFECT! Now that's an idea!

If Apple can put stereo speakers, AND a subwoofer in the new 13" MacBook Pro- they could beef this up too. I was sold before this on iPad2, but now have reconsidered as sound is important to the experience..

Man now people are complaining the thing dosen't have 6.1 surround sound. THAT'S not till iPad 12 people.

It's a freaking speaker. You want better sound plug in a headset.
