I have researching the iPhone 11 Pro Max vs the iPhone 12 Pro max.

One of things I have found is that the iPhone 12 pro max is bigger.

The benefit of that is the slightly larger screen.

But the downsize is that it feels bigger in the hand according to some people’s opinion.

I have been hearing the 11 pro max is easier to hold in the hand.

I am on the fence about upgrading. I was wondering what other people thought about the advantages/disadvantages

Upgraded from the 11PM. If you're used to big phones and already have the 11PM, the incremental size increase via 2.8mm height and .3mm width should be irrelevant... The phone feels literally the same as my 11PM in my pocket during normal day to day use. The .2" of screen size increase is definitely noticeable and I love it. The 12PM has actually made my iPP obsolete.

The only reason it seems harder to hold is because of the sharp sides compared to the 11PM's rounded sides. I personally love the sharper sides even if it does seem more uncomfortable to hold. Yes it does feel a tad bigger to hold, but knowing the sides are flat compared to curved, I was already anticipating this feeling.

I upgraded solely for the Qualcomm modem and the retro squared design, and I have ZERO regrets. I'm just glad it's not as big as the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Note Gigantic Magnus or whatever. My boss has that phone and it's bigger than the 12PM!

That is good to hear. Yes the 12PM is beautiful- like a gem in your hand. What color did you buy?

Actually I found the 12Pro Max too big coming from a 11Pro, it just too much for me personally. Camera bump is huge and it looks thicker because of those edges. Just try it out and see if it’s good for you.

I actually find the 12 PM much easier to hold over my 11 PM, and I have small hands. I always felt like I had to grip the 11 PM tighter because it never felt secure with the rounded edges. I also feel no difference in weight with the 12 PM. Case-less.

I also think the feel of the 11 Pro Max is better than the 12 Pro Max. The squared edges of the Pro Max make it uncomfortable to hold in my opinion, and with the Apple leather case on it it feels massive. Even with a just barely smaller screen, the 11 Pro Max feels much more comfortable to hold than the 12 Pro Max to me. I am also not a fan of the massive camera bump on this phone. It is much larger than the one of the 11 Pro Max.

With that being said, the screen sizes are extremely close and I think you'll be happy with either of them. If I was telling you to make a choice, I would tell you to pick the 11 Pro Max simply becuase you are getting almost the exact same phone performance wise but for most likely much less money.

I ended up returning the 12 Pro Max and keeping my 11 Pro Max solely due to the size. On paper it doesn’t look like much but I can pretty easily stretch my hand across the width of 11PM but the 12PM I couldn’t make it to the edge of the screen which ended up being quite uncomfortable after a few days of use. Everyone is different I guess but the 11 PM is the perfect size for me in particular, 12 PM just slightly more than I can handle.

I upgraded from the XS Max to the 12 Pro Max and love everything about this phone. I love the Pacific Blue color, squared edges and bigger screen. Having the Qualcomm modem has made a world of a difference compared to the Intel modem. I have no regrets on upgrading and kept my XS Max as a backup device.

I am coming from 11 PM to 12 PM. Initially I was also worried that it much be much bigger than my 11 PM, looking at all the reivews. For me personally, did not experience any difficulty in the day to day usage. However, I use it with a Popsocket and clear case. I use to have the same set up on the 11 PM. Hope this helps makes your decision.

Pick the one you feel best suits you. You are going to be the one using it. You will get varied opinions here on the boards. I liked both the 11PM and like my current 12PM. It's whatever feels best in your hands.

I'm not moving to the 12 Pro Max because I already settled for a slightly yellow 11 Pro Max after exchanging it once. I'm not playing screen lottery again. I'm also not happy about bigger screen + 5G but smaller mAh battery. Lastly I'm not a fan of the squared edges.

I may overlook the last one in next releases if they resolve the screen issues and up the battery again.

That’s a shame! Was there anything about 12 PM that made you think twice before deciding not to upgrade?

like maybe “yeah it’s bigger but this feature is so much nicer!”

like maybe the screen or something?

I like the size. I too came from an 11 PM. Perhaps because I have long hands, its not that big of deal to me. I mean, i barely notice the size difference.

I have big hands, slightly above average I would say. I do wish I had hands that were bigger though just so I could enjoy bigger iPhones more 🤷‍♂️

But I’m sure I’m not the only one that feels that way

I have tiny hands, so I really can't use any phone one handed, maybe not even the Mini. I've always had the Plus/Max sized phones, and I love them. Yeah, if you're coming to a Max from a smaller phone, it will take a week or two to get used to, and you may need to do some things differently for reach, but most get used to it quite quickly. Even the regular (non-mini) sized phones feel too small for me after so many years with the bigguns.

I’ll be real,

I had the iPhone 6 Plus, AND I HATED THAT THING

For some reason, holding it was SUPER uncomfortable

I just could not get used to it no matter how hard I tried

The 11PM, not sure why, but...love it lol

To each his own, but I don't understand people justifying returning their 12 PM simply because it is "bigger" than the 11 PM. The difference is rather miniscule. I can understand not liking the flat edges, but bigger size? hmm...

The reason Apple made the edges rounded in past was to make the phone easier to grasp. It's pretty simple really. Rounded edges just have less material around the edges which makes it easier to wrap your hand around the edges. Not only does the 12PM have square edges, it's also physically bigger and heavier than the 11PM. Not a good combination in my book, but everyone's preferences are different.

Coming from a 11pm, I’m loving the design of the 12pm. To the point where if this was the last design of the iPhone ever, I’d be happy.
I have the gold and I love how the screen front on has a slight gold edge to it, and the completely flat screen and the edges.....lovely
