My fave. :D :D

No ****** Way.
All that hype for an MP3 player? Break-thru digital device? The Reality Distiortion Field™ is starting to warp Steve's mind if he thinks for one second that this thing is gonna take off.

Actually the 5C pricing makes the current Ipod touch 32Gb look like an absolute bargain !

Classic Macrumors

Typical naysayers!

Seems as though not much has changed around here in twelve years.

some of the choice quotes:

I for one am disappointed and think that apple is making a mistake by trying to get into this market.

The Archos Jukebox does the same thing and it's not blowing off the shelves either. $399 is just too much for an MP3 jukebox. Sorry Steve, this isn't it...

Better bring that price down or you wont sell any of these babies

This Christmas you will see mp3 players be commoditized. Meaning that the players from Korea will be way less expensive tha iPod. The real money is in DRM and distribution (ala Real Musicnet). If Apple were smart they would be focusing on high gross revenue from services rather than a playback device.

Steve Jobs is under terrible consuling or is under too much pot. This propusal is not realistic at all. If Apple does something like this again is going down.

...the whole thread is full of comedy gold...i could keep going lol

My favourite from that topic:
It has good features, yes, but the device needs to be more competitive in price. It has to be profitable, yet affordable - it has to sell in volume to make Apple money, and this will not achieve the sales required to pay dividends. Only a select few will buy it. No one but those brainwashed by a fruity logo. You've demonstrated that you're the kind of person who splurges out on designer label clothes, oblivious to the blatant ripoff of the article. What a superficial sheep you are.
How very very wrong he was.

To be fair, when the iPod was released, it was pretty expensive for what it was, and the iTunes Store didn't arrive for another two years. I liked the concept, but I couldn't justify spending $399 for something that would hold only a quarter of my music collection. I didn't bite until the third-generation 40 GB iPod, and it wasn't until the fifth-generation 80 GB iPod that I was able to hold my entire music collection. Still, it's fun to re-read old threads about then-new product releases. The iPod, iPhone, MacBook Air, iPad, and iPad mini were all going to be epic fails, according to the MR threads.

My post isn't really necessary but I thought it was interesting how you are justifying the naysayers because your opinion is the iPod was expensive at the time. That's not the point. The point is they were all wrong and the iPod went bonkers! Just wanted to point that out :)

It feels weird reading about how 5GB was a massive thing back then. 16GB won't cut it for most people nowadays :p

First page was very informative. I didn't know they had forum trolls back in 2001.

The point of me posting this was that haters will hate. They will cry and scream like little girls (just see the threads above me).

But then they will go and buy an iPhone. So don't let these hate comments deter your opinions. If you like the iPhone buy it and don't look back. If those haters back in 2001 had a sight more than 5ft, they would have purchased Apple stock for $10 and be very rich men today.

So carry on, and enjoy life.

Ciao

Love this post, he's so cool lol:
If the ipod is only the world's most baddass MP3 player then I don't know if I'm really going to stand in line to buy it, I have a cd walkman and a burner aleady

Hahahaha

oh and this:

Steve transmitted 1Gb of data onto the device in about 2 minutes. 1Gb!!! Does ANY mp3 player out there do this? Didn't think so. You have to wait 5 hours for your Nomad Jukebox to load up.

Sounds very revolutionary to me.

hey - heres an idea Apple - rather than enter the world of gimmicks and toys, why dont you spend a little more time sorting out your pathetically expensive and crap server line up?
or are you really aiming to become a glorified consumer gimmicks firm?

Now where have I heard this before...

Reading that thread is hilarious.
