Between the scratched up Jet Black, scratched up camera lens, and now, a scratched display on my iPhone 7, the build quality for this years iPhone seems to me to be the worst yet. I know scratched screens happen, but I baby my devices, and I am very careful. I'm not saying it's not my fault, but Christ, Apple, I wish you would make phones that aren't designed to be in a case with a screen protector on it. At least include them in the box... End rant.

My question would be what the heck are you doing with your phone? I've had mine case less for two weeks, never baby it thanks to AppleCare+ and haven't got a scratch.

This seems like more a usage issue rather than a build quality issue.

I awkwardly worded that rant. I was just talking about reports of scratched jet black iPhones and camera lens. I personally just found a scratch and some micro scratches on my 7. I've never had that happen 2 weeks into a new phone. Meanwhile, my wife has her 6 banging around it her purse for 2 years without a scratch. Im sure I did something to scratch it, but **** is it annoying. Other users are having similar issues.

It's moot anyway, since I'll just trade it in for another one once supplies are better. I'm just glad I didn't pay full price for this phone....just ranting here.

Your going to trade the phone in because YOU got a scratch on it? Really?

Your rant is nothing more on how you and your wife treat their iPhones on a daily basis. From scratches to scrapes. Myself and a lot of other iPhone Users carry their devices without a case, And I have zero scratches or scrapes, in turn, I sell my device in near perfect condition when I order the next device. It comes down to how you care for your property, like anything else in this life.

Yes and no. It also comes down to how well a product is built. No issues with my iPad Air 2's screen. I do think there is something to the first product yields that gets improved as demand goes down. But good for you that you take such good care of your phone.

you also don't treat your iPad like you do a phone... Taking it everywhere. In your pocket. Setting it down on tables ect...
Ive always bought launch day phones and have ran caseless since iPhone 4. My 7+ black is fine without any marks on it. I had the 6+ for 2 years and dropped it a few times but nothing major. Ive never had a screen protector and haven't had any scratches really. Maybe super small ones you can only see in one spot of light but nothing anyone would notice.

This thread is garabe

As for the iPhone 7, it didn't sit there and scratch itself. However, I never have it in a pocket with anything. I'm disappointed that the screen has a lot of micro scratches and one deep nick. It just isn't holding up to normal use, IMO. If others have different experiences, so be it.

But your previous phones weren't the jet black. A new color stated by even the maker to be recommended to be in a case, due to the tendency of it to develop micro scratches easily. :)

Everybody just wants a scapegoat for their inability to be responsible.

You feel like you're entitled to a screen protector in the box? Well it came wrapped up in protective film and you took it off without being prepared, now you scratched your phone want to blame it on Apple.
